Cool Walkies in the UK

5 great places for walkies in the shade

With the return of the heatwave this weekend, we are lucky to have so many trees in the UK.

They don't just make great toilets but our leafy friends also protect us from the glare of the sun.

Here are some great shady places to explore this weekend.

Wendover Woods in the Chilterns is a Forestry England site with walks to suit every ability and lots of great view over the Chilterns.

They have regular seasonal activities and a great cafe.

It's our Woofer Baxter's favourite and you can read his full review here.

Esher Common in Surrey is a firm favourite of Woofer Nacho.

It has a mix of heathland and woods and also a great pond for a quick dip. A great option for South West London dogs.

Formby Beach Woods has the best of both worlds, lovely soft sand and plenty of tall trees.

It's a firm favourite of Woofer Skye and you can read her full review here. A great option for our furry friends in the North West.

Abney Hall Park in Cheadle has lots to offer for visiting pooches including multiple shaded walks and some hidden secrets such as waterfalls.

Our Woofer Benny enjoys exploring this park and you can read his full review here.

Westonbirt Arboretum in the Cotswolds is a heaven for tree lovers with over 2,500 types of leafy friends.

Our Woofer Nacho visited on a Cotswolds holiday which you can read all about here.
