  • Christmas in Chelsea

Chelsea is possibly THE most dog friendly area in London. The majority of places to drink and dine are on or around the King’s Road, which is also a great place to shop with your pooch as most stores, including Peter Jones are dog friendly too. You can easily spend a whole day exploring Chelsea. Start with a walk in Battersea Park then stroll over the very pretty Albert Bridge which leads directly onto King’s Road. In between shopping and dining, explore some of the pretty garden squares and the colourful Bywater Street and Godfrey Street - great photo opportunities there! Be sure to explore the shops and eateries in Pavillion Road and Duke of York Square and if your pooch is in need of supplies then pop into Love My Human or Pet Pavillion. Aesop and Kiehl's also have dog grooming products. There are literally too many places to mention in one blog but here are a few of our favourites. And remember.....like dogs, Chelsea is not just for Christmas! Manicomio Situated in the pretty Duke of York Square, this Italian restaurant has a huge outdoor space in the square and a walled garden at the rear, with plenty of heat lamps. The perfect place to watch the stylish of dogs of Chelsea go by! If it is very cold, we doggies are also allowed to dine in the bar area. Read Pretzel's review here... Poilane A wonderful Parisian bakery just off the King's Road. The cafe serves delicious food but we can't resist the croissants! Read full review here... Wulf & Lamb If you're sick of all the turkey why not try a plant-based menu? Situated on Pavillion Road, the food here is simply delicious. Read full review here... • Exploring Kingston with Archie

Archie is Chief Eating Officer of Two Terriers Social Club and leader of the Four Legged Foodie pack. He is a 9 year old Norfolk Terrier and lives with his humans in Kingston upon Thames. “I love living here because we have Richmond Park on our doorstep and there are lots and lots of great dog friendly pubs. I also love to walk along The Riverside with all the smells coming from the restaurants along there. We are allowed outside at these so best to go on a dry day. When we are feeling energetic, we continue down the towpath all the way to Surbiton which has some of our favourite dog friendly cafes." If street food is your thing (and we don’t mean the stuff you find on the floor) then the Ancient Marketplace has plenty to offer. We can even go into quite a few stores in the town centre such as John Lewis and West Elm. Come and explore Kingston soon - it’s only 30 minutes by train from Waterloo and it has the best attraction of all - ME 😝 These are 5 of my favourite places: The Pottery Bar This is a Spanish tapas restaurant in Norbiton and we doggies are allowed in the bar area and in the garden. It is a really nice place to go on a dry day as the garden is very large with lots of tables and some comfy sofas. Some of it is partly covered. The humans can enjoy tapas, paella or something from their daily specials menu. Doggies will need to ask for water or bring your own. The Queens Head This is my local and I particularly like it here because they do fresh pork crackling as a snack which the humans let me share! They also have a jar of dog treats on the bar to help yourself to. We doggies are allowed in most of the pub (just not a small “restaurant”area) and they also have a lovely garden with a few covered and heated outdoor booths. In the summer they have a BBQ in the garden. The human food here is good quality with a seasonally changing menu. Poor Boys This place is tucked away down one of the alleys off the Market Square but is well worth seeking out. It is a small restaurant specialising in American food, particularly the New Orleans region. The humans love the Po Boy sandwiches and the staff are very welcoming to us doggies. The Boaters This pub is on the Kingston Riverside within a small park - Canbury Gardens. We are allowed everywhere inside and in the large garden area which has an outdoor BBQ and pizza oven. The humans can get takeaway pizza end enjoy it in the park! The humans can enjoy traditional pub grub and they have live jazz on Sundays. Wags n Tales One of my all time favourites! You can probably tell from their name that they are super dog friendly! This is a vegetarian all day cafe in Surbiton with very friendly, welcoming staff. They have a full doggie menu including muffins, biscuits and puppuccinos. An absolute MUST visit for all doggies! Find out more and read our full review of Wags n Tales here...

  • Matcha and Beyond

This unique cafe is on the Kings Road in the heart of uber dog friendly Chelsea. We popped in for a drink during Chelsea in Bloom when the area is full of colour. Matcha and Beyond delivers plenty of colour all year round and that colour is GREEN. The cafe is small but perfectly formed with natural wood, soft furnishings and splashed of bright colours. The back wall is a firm Instagram favourite! But best of all, they are extremely dog friendly. Matcha and Beyond is the brainchild of Olivia Nottin who wanted to provide coffee lovers with a healthier alternative. “Olivia is matcha obsessed. She felt it was a perfect alternative with a very delicate taste, texture and many health benefits.” Place your order at the counter, which will then be brought to you. Traditional coffee by Square Mile Coffee Roasters is available alongside numerous Matcha based alternatives such as Matchachino and Flat Green. Breakfast items such as porridge and croissants are served daily between 8am-11am. The all day menu is limited but they also prepare daily salads and specials. You can always go for one of their pretty cakes such as Green Velvet Cake. Vegan, gluten free and dairy free options are available. Here’s what Archie and Freddie have to say about Matcha and Beyond: We were very welcome in the cafe which is small but not too cramped so we didn’t need to worry about our tails getting stamped on. There is a bowl of water for us in permanent residence by the counter and they don’t even mind us sitting on the seats for those all important photos. We visited on a warm day and it was lovely and cool inside. We just have one question. When are we going to get Matcha Pupcakes? 🐾🐾

  • Maitre Choux

When you visit this visually stunning patisserie on the Kings Road, you will immediately realise why it’s so popular on Instagram. But it’s definitely not a case of style over substance. Maitre Choux is the worlds first patisserie to specialise in choux pastry. “All of our creations are truly unique, and we regularly update our range with seasonal influences to take advantage of what nature does best. We always use the freshest ingredients available.” The decor is as stunning as the cakes with that famous wall of flowers which is a stark contrast against the otherwise white walls, giving a clean and light space in which to indulge your sweet tooth. Choose eclairs, choux buns and croquettes in a selection of intense flavours such as violet, rose and cappuccino, our only dilemma was that we couldn’t choose which ones to try as we wanted them all! Champagne Afternoon Tea is also available but must be pre-booked. If sweet is not your thing then they do have a selection of savoury eclairs which are just as photogenic. You can also take them away to enjoy later or order online for that extra special tea party! There are branches of Maitre Choux in Kensington, Soho and Fortnums. Whichever one you visit be sure to take your camera! Here’s what Archie and Freddie have to say about Maitre Choux: We were very welcome in this Chelsea patisserie and were allowed to sit on the seats to get photos of the flowers, please take a blanket as this place is very clean. There wasn’t any water available to us so make sure to take your own. The cafe is very small with only a few tables and not much space so choose the time you visit carefully. The humans loved it and we are always happy to be with them in their favourite places. 🐾🐾

  • Hoxton Cabin

Hoxton Cabin describes itself as a creative and musical cafe. They have space for emerging artists to display their work and they host live music and open mike sessions, they also have monthly comedy evenings. More importantly (to us anyway) they have a cool cafe with a relaxed vibe and great coffee. “We like to keep our spaces as chilled and relaxing as your own living room. At Hoxton Cabin you will be able to study, work or enjoy a catch up with friends.” The Cabin is on an uninspiring corner of Kingsland Road and doesn’t have great kerb appeal but do go inside, you will be glad you did. The cafe is filled with reclaimed furniture, ‘car boot sale’ antiquities and art by local artists adorn the walls so there is plenty to entertain your eyes while you tuck into your Pasteis de Nata or one of their other tempting cakes. If you love coffee you won’t be disappointed here, try the almond flat white and the chai latte was also excellent. A great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch and light snacks. They are licensed with a small selection of beers and spirits and for smokers and vapers there is a small covered garden area at the rear. Here’s what Archie and Freddie have to say about Hoxton Cabin: We were very welcome at Hoxton Cabin. The staff brought us water and made a fuss of us. There was plenty of space for us to sit with the humans while they had their coffee and cake. They are always happy when they get a good cup of coffee and when they’re happy, we’re happy! We were so relaxed in the cafe that we fell asleep and had to be woken up to go and get our train home! 🐾🐾

  • Clutch Chicken

If you’re a fan of fried chicken then heaven awaits you in Hoxton. On a quiet street between Hackney Road and Columbia Road you will find a bright yellow but otherwise unassuming building and once you step through the doors you will be surprised and delighted by what Clutch Chicken has to offer. From the outside you may not be impressed but trust us you will change your mind once inside. At the front of the restaurant is an open kitchen area with large tables and bench seating replete with padded velour cushions - no hard wooden seats here! The Victorian fireplace and stylish lighting give it a homely feel and there is plenty of natural light. If you want something more secluded, book a table in the bar which is behind the kitchen. In complete contrast to the main dining area this room has dark panelled walls, candlelight and green velour banquettes giving the feel of a private members club. There is a well stocked bar serving up a selection of cocktails, we can highly recommend the Prosecco Punch. The star attraction though is obviously the chicken which is served in more ways than you could ever imagine. We went for brunch so had the Breakfast Burger and Fried Chicken and French Toast. The portion sizes are just right, not too much that you couldn’t fit in some homemade apple pie for dessert and the chicken is beautifully moist and tender, it practically melts in the mouth. There are healthier salad options and gluten free alternatives, but all the chicken comes from ethically sourced, free-range poultry farms and is fried in groundnut oil. “Since we were founded in 2013, our ethos has been about making the most delectably, deliriously, delicious fried food imaginable in the healthiest way possible.” Clutch Chicken’s location means you are unlikely to just stumble across the restaurant but it is well worth seeking out as they serve up some of the best chicken we ever tasted. Here’s what Archie and Freddie have to say about Clutch Chicken: We were made very welcome at Clutch Chicken, every member of staff greeted us and gave us a fuss. We sat in the bar area as we dogs need to be away from the open kitchen. It was very comfortable and spacious for us there and we were entertained by watching the barman create some fancy cocktails. We were happy to stick to water, which was brought for us immediately. It was quiet when we arrived at 12.00 on a Saturday so we had plenty of opportunity to wander round and get some great photos. However, by the time we left, the restaurant was full so pick your times carefully if you don’t like too much noise and lots of people. The humans were very happy here so we were happy to be with them. We only have one complaint, the chicken was so delicious they didn’t save any for us!! 🐾🐾

  • The Colbert

Sitting outside The Colbert watching the beautiful people of Chelsea strutting their stuff around Sloane Square, you could almost imagine you were sitting on a Parisian boulevard. That is, until the number 22 bus goes past! But who needs to be in Paris anyway when you can get great French food right here in South West London. Don’t expect fine dining because that’s not what The Colbert is trying to be. They refer to themselves as an “all day cafe” (think upmarket Cafe Rouge). The food is well presented with some classics such as Onion Soup and Croque Monsieur or Oysters and Steak Tartare for the more indulgent. There is also a great selection of French wine and, of course, champagne to wash it all down with. “True to the spirit of traditional French cafes, The Colbert is the perfect spot to while away the hours over drinks, snacks or a full meal.” There are a few bistro tables outside on the pavement which are a great spot for people watching but if you prefer a quieter spot then head inside where you will find a yourself in 1930’s Paris. The restaurant is large with over 200 seats, split between the bar area and restaurant pus another bar and more tables downstairs. The decor is much as you’d expect with plenty of dark wood panelling, red leather banquettes and French cinema posters. The Colbert is a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch before indulging in some retail therapy on the Kings Road and just like the French cafes they are inspired by, they are extremely welcoming of all pooches. The Colbert’s location right next to Sloane Square tube station does mean it gets very busy at peak times so booking is advised but they do keep a few tables aside each day for walk-ins. Here’s what Archie and Freddie have to say about The Colbert: It was a great start to our visit to The Colbert when all staff greeted us on the way in. One of the lovely ladies who greets the customers at the door brought us a biscuit to enjoy while we waited for the humans to finish their drinks at the bar. The restaurant was busy but it is quite spacious so we didn’t feel squashed under the table and we are allowed in all areas. We were brought water and continued to get attention from the staff while the humans ate. We noticed a little doggie on another table was sat on a chair next to his human while she shared her steak with him! We think there will be times when The Colbert could be a bit too busy and noisy for us but otherwise we are more than happy to accompany our humans to the restaurant. Just share that steak next time! 🐾🐾
