- A Blooming Marvellous Day in Chelsea
Every year during Chelsea Flower Show, the streets of Chelsea turn into a giant floral display with shops, restaurants and businesses creating flowery masterpieces for visitors to enjoy. It's great for dog owners as pooches aren't allowed into the actual show and unlike the pricey tickets to the show, these displays are free to admire and photograph to your heart's content. The show was postponed from it's usual time in May to September this year so had a more autumnal theme but the Chelsea displays were just as vibrant and stunning as ever. We started at Sloane Square and headed down Kings Road, stopping off to see the camels in Duke of York Square and the Statue of Libertree in Pavilion Road and finding some secret displays on the quieter streets off Kings Road. The show is back 24th - 28th May 2022 so put the date in your diary and we look forward to seeing your floral poochie photos next year. Of course no day out is complete without a dog friendly lunch and we were delighted to try out The Cross Keys on Lawrence Street along with our friend Tika. Here's Archie's review: The Cross Keys is what our humans call a 'Posh Pub' because it has a separate dining are to the bar and it serves fabulous, top quality food. These dining areas are often off limits to Four Legged Foodies but not so at The Cross Keys, in fact we only spotted 1 table that didn't have a dog with them! The first thing we noticed was a huge jar of treats waiting for us by the door, and although we had to be reminded that we had to share them with other dogs, it made us feel very welcome. The staff also made us very welcome and didn't even mind Nacho jumping up at them every time they came to the table. The pub is spacious and the dining area has lovely natural light with a mixture of tables and banquette booths. The humans ordered a selection of food (which was apparently too good to share with us) which further established The Cross Keys into our 'posh pub' *category because it wasn't just the usual burger or fish and chips on the menu. The menu is more like that of a top restaurant with dishes such as Cornish Mussels and Pan Roasted Lemon Sole. We can only assume the humans enjoyed their scallops, steak tartare and burrata because there was not a crumb left on their plates. Tika, Nacho and I had a great time and we highly recommend you pay The Cross Keys a visit when you are in Chelsea. It is also the closest pub to Chelsea Old Church where the Dog's Trust Carol Concert is held in December. *Please don't be put off when we say "posh", this is still a pub where everyone is welcome for drinks, food or both. Which is perhaps just as well because we are most definitely not posh pups - well maybe Tika is!
- Four Legged Foodies Loved The Fest
We were blown away by how many pooches joined us for our first Four Legged Foodie Fest last Sunday. Despite TFL taking away the tube and it being the only rainy day in London for weeks, you showed up in your hundreds and made it a fabulous day! There were treats galore in store for all Four Legged Foodies like tasters from Butternut Box , pupcakes from Bombshell Bakes , bone broth from Electric Beans and hourly cookery demonstrations from HUG Pet Food which was then served up to anyone who watched patiently with a waggy tail. Despite the rain, our four legged friends made sure their humans visited all the wonderful doggie companies and got their Christmas lists started. From bandanas to beds to leads and collars and even doggie portraits, there was something for everypawdy! Dogs of London got to meet lots of new friends and some of the faces behind some of their favourite brands and many brought along their own pooches too including the handsome Wolfie from Hiro + Wolf . During the rainy hour dogs and their humans got to relax in our Hyde Bark Corner tent with coffee, cakes, hot dogs, beer and vegan pasta. We can't wait for our next event. Can YOU??
- Fulham is Full of Surprises
If you're coming along to our Four Legged Foodie Fest this Sunday why not take the opportunity to see what else Fulham has to offer for adventurous pooches. Start by stretching your legs at Bishop's Park which is a short walk away from our Fest venue. The park is on the river so you can stroll along the Thames path or run around on the grassy areas. There's also a park café and pretty ornamental gardens with a fountain. Our motto is "It's never too cold for ice cream" but fortunately that won't be put to the test this weekend as it's meant to be sunny so get yourselves a delicious gelato from Badiani . Doggies are more than welcome in this beautiful café on Fulham Road which also serves cakes, coffee and crepes to eat in or takeaway. The café is spacious and they also have a beautiful enclosed rear garden. Oh and the gelato is out of this world!! Get your noses sniffing to find Fulham's best kept secret The Little Blue Door . They try to make their places feel like a home with comfy sofas and décor to look just like the living room of a London flat. And four legged friends get the same welcome with treats, a bed and toys to keep them occupied while the humans enjoy delicious food. They are most famous for their bottomless brunches on Saturdays but you can also get dinner and cocktails in the evenings. Sorry they are not open on Sundays but this place is definitely worth making a special trip for and be sure to enter our competition on Instagram to be in with a chance of winning bottomless brunch for 2. Another great place that's worth a visit is Neverland on Wandsworth Bridge. It has everything a Mediterranean Beach club has but it's on the Thames and it's super dog friendly. You can just chill out with cocktails on a deckchair or in a beach hut or grab a bite to eat (bottomless brunch on Sundays) and then have a boogie along to the in-house DJ. From October, the vibe changes to a Winter Wonderland so it's a great place to try at any time of year! After our Fest you could head towards Chelsea on Fulham Road and you will discover The Goat which a fabulous dog friendly gastropub. The pub is extremely spacious, so great for dogs of all sizes, there's treats on offer and a very warm welcome from the staff. There's also currently a covered outdoor area on the side street. And the food here is exceptional! The Wellington is just around the corner from our Fest and is a friendly local pub offering traditional pub grub and a very warm welcome to all four legged foodies. There is a small outdoor (uncovered) area to the front and plenty of space inside with some cool photo opportunities. If your human is a fan of gin, this is the place to go as they have an extensive selection! You can also join your humans in watching the footie or a game of pool! We very much look forward to seeing you at The Four Legged Foodie Fest on Sunday and if you can't make it, be sure to keep an eye on our website for other upcoming events.
- Strollers Are NOT Silly!
We first bought a pet stroller for our Westie Barney when he went blind through diabetes and were often asked why he wasn't walking or we would hear people with similar comments as they walked by. 7 years later, when we mentioned getting one for Archie, some friends still thought it was unnecessary and some thought we would look "silly" pushing the dogs around in a pram! We are here to tell you that far from being silly, our recent purchase from Happy Hotdogs at Dogstival this year, was one of the most sensible things we bought this year. We first discussed the idea of buying a stroller when we decided to get Nacho this year. Archie was already 11 years old when Nacho arrived and we knew their stamina and abilities were only going to get further apart as time went on. So when we saw this Innopet stroller at Dogstival, we decided to go for it, even if we didn't need it just yet. As (bad) luck would have it, in a matter of weeks after the stroller arrived, Archie was diagnosed with MVD and we were advised not to over exercise him, especially in hot weather. So what do you do when you have a lively 6 month old pup and an 11 year old with heart disease who still very much wants to join in with the adventures? You get out the stroller, that's what! Happy Hotdogs have a range of strollers to suit all requirements and budgets and you can even hire one if you want to try them out first. We went for a stroller that could accommodate both dogs, which was just as well because as you can see, Nacho does like to hop in too! Our Sporty Stroller has air filled tyres for a more comfortable ride on all terrains. So far we have tested it out in the park, on the beach, through a forest, at a festival and of course, on the streets of London. It folds up small and the wheels are easily removed to store in your car and is lightweight enough to take on tubes, trains and buses. Far from being considered silly, we have received many positive comments and the boys certainly attract attention as they look so happy and comfortable strolling along the seafront. We strongly recommend a stroller from Happy Hotdogs if your dog has any mobility or other issues which prevent lengthy walks. Getting out and having fresh air is good for both of you and this is how you can still enjoy those adventures together. And anyway, who cares if you look silly as long as you are still enjoying life to the max? Browse the full range of Innopet strollers here or pop along and see Happy Hotdogs at DogFest North this weekend.
- A Treat Awaits you at LMH Townhouse
We have always said that there are dog friendly places and then there are CRAZY dog friendly places. Love My Human Townhouse is most definitely the latter. And we don't mean only crazy dogs are allowed, we mean they go above and beyond when it comes to our four legged foodies. This is what we are talking about!! Never mind what the humans are having, we have our very own extensive menu at LMH Townhouse and everything is carefully selected by nutritionist Anna Webb and presented in pretty bowls. We couldn't choose between the meatballs, burger and salmon so we ordered all 3! Then finished off with a puppuccino. Don't worry humans, you won't be left out as there is also a fabulous menu for you too! We went along for brunch and the humans happily tucked into eggs benedict and a delicious healthy juice. You can help yourself to a comfy bed on your way in and there's also a great selection of treats in the store - and even more at the Love My Human just up the road. It's a great place to meet some friends for lunch. We took our friend Cedric with us to help eat all that food (not that we needed any help really). You can even treat yourself to a spa day as the upper floors house day care and a wellness centre where you can get nutrition advice, massages and even acupuncture! If you like what you see, why not come along to our Howlowe'en Tea on October 29th and try LMH Townhouse for yourself. You can get your tickets here ...
- Go Nuts for Pets
We all know dogs love peanut butter and what a useful treat it can be but we also know how bad the human version can be for our pooches because of added ingredients like xylitol, sugar, salt and palm oil. All products by Nuts for Pets have none of these and that's why we love them! Nuts for Pets have a range of treats which are all high in heart-healthy fats, protein, vitamin B, niacin and vitamin E. Extra virgin coconut oil - benefits your pooch from the inside out, great for healthy skin and a gloriously glossy coat. Suitable for all dogs as part of a healthy balanced diet. Spreading the Poochbutter on a Lickimat® is a great way to keep pups occupied when left home alone or when you just need a quiet few minutes. It can also be used as a distraction technique when doing things your pooch doesn't enjoy. Try spreading some on the side of the bath while you wash them or inside a Kong® while you clip their nails. To compliment their Poochbutter, Nuts for Pets have a range of healthy treats including Chicken Crumble, Banana Biscuits and Salmon Oil. Check out their website for the full range - you can even get your Lickimats® there too!
- Exploring Dog Friendly Brixton
We were asked by Goddard's vets to find some dog friendly places in Brixton so we spent a whole day there and here's what we found! We started off with a coffee at The Laundry on Coldharbour Lane which is a great space in a converted Edwardian Laundry! Dogs are welcome inside or on their pretty terrace and humans can also get a coffee to go if you can’t wait to get started on that walk. We intend to go back to try one of their breakfasts too! From there it’s just a 15-minute walk to Brockwell Park which is a beautiful park with great views from the top of the hill as well as ponds and plenty of space to work up a hunger for lunch. You can also watch some humans braving the British weather at the Brockwell Lido if you pop into the lido café 400 Rabbits . (Dogs aren’t allowed in the pool though). We stopped off at Ayla’s Pet Store on Dulwich Road to stock up on treats, then we headed to The Lounge Brixton on Atlantic Road for lunch. The humans really like the sound of Caribbean Comfort food and they weren’t disappointed. They said the food was delicious but too spicy for us to try. Thankfully the staff were more generous and brought us our own treats. This is a super friendly place we highly recommend our four-legged friends try. The humans needed another stroll after lunch to help their full bellies (we don’t know what that means) so we strolled through Brixton Village Market (main image) which is a really cool covered market with lots of independent traders and eateries. Plenty of places for coffee and maybe some cakes for later. The humans love beer so we had to pop in to see our friends at Brewdog who always have a warm waggy welcome for four-legged foodies! If your humans still have room in their bellies after that, then they can get great pizza from Mamma Dough which is also on Coldharbour Lane. The staff here LOVE dogs and the pizza is amazing, if you’re full then you can always get one delivered later. We had a great day in Brixton and hope you will too! Archie and Nacho x
- Get Comfy with Milo and Pi
We first met Milo & Pi when they attended our first ever Christmas market in 2019 and we have been huge fans ever since. Made by UK craftsmen from natural sustainable resources, each Milo & Pi bed is like a work of art. Made from some of the finest wood from trees found in Cornwall and topped with natural, breathable mattresses . The perfect addition to any home. One of our favourite products is the travel mattress , which makes a great place to sit at the pub. The soft mattress has a waterproof back (so also great for picnics) and rolls up into the leather harness, making it easy to carry. A much better place to enjoy your treats than the hard pub floor! The mattress can also make a great spot to teach your pup to settle while you enjoy your pub lunch. Though we cannot guarantee how long he will stay there! Visit Milo & Pi to see their full range of beds, mattresses and accessories.
- A Warm Welcome Awaits you at The Goat
Chelsea is one of the most dog friendly parts of London so we pooches can be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out in that area. As you know we class ourselves as Gastronomes so we still seek out the best places each area has to offer and The Goat certainly falls into that category. We went with our friend Cedric and received the warmest of welcomes from the staff who immediately asked to cuddle us and encouraged us to take as many photos as we liked. Luckily Cedric is as much of a poser as we are! We were even more delighted when the staff brought us water and a whole plate full of treats. The Goat has plenty of space on their ground floor restaurant and also has a pretty champagne terrace outside. Plenty of room for doggies of all sizes and dogs on wheels. They also have space for events upstairs and that is where we are hosting our Christmas Pawty on December 12th. The humans made lots of positive noises about their food which was both delicious and beautifully presented. So if you want to try out The Goat for yourself visit their website to book or come along to our Christmas Pawty and try their canapes (we have our names down for the mini burgers). Get your tickets here... In this feature Nacho is wearing Overglam Collar and Lead with Teddy Maximus Bow tie and Cedric is wearing Wyldcub .
- Celebrate Vegan Month in Style
Long gone are the days when the only vegan option on most menus was a bowl of lentil soup or a Linda McCartney meat substitute. The vegan revolution has meant that most places have really had to step up their game and offer more variety for our plant-based connoisseurs. November is Vegan month and we are celebrating our London dog friendly restaurants who take this cuisine to a whole new level. Linnaean Living is not just a beautiful place to dine, it also offers amazing plant based and clean living food that pleases the eyes and the tastebuds. All dishes are either vegan, vegetarian or gluten free and the cafe offers an all day menu from which you can choose such delicious delights as chickpea "omelette" and sweet potato hash. You can also choose a Vegan afternoon Tea and Vegan Bottomless brunch - both all day Tuesday to Sunday. And not a Linda McCartney sausage in sight! Dogs are not simply welcome at Linnaean Living, they are positively encouraged. Pooches can relax on a comfortable bed with treats and water provided whilst you enjoy your lunch. They even have an Instagram account dedicated to us @linnaeandogs Linnaean Living is also a beauty salon, health spa and store! After dining, the humans can treat themselves to a variety of beauty treatments, including hair treatments and massages. All services use the latest technology and carefully selected brands, which are also available to buy in the store. Although the treatments are only for humans, your pooch can join you anywhere in the spa. In this feature Archie is wearing Reg and Bob collar and lead and bespoke bandana by The Distinguished Dog Company .
- A Winter Wonderland in Fulham
Neverland in Fulham has been one of our favourite party destinations for years. In summer it is a beach club where you feel like you are transported to Ibiza but in winter it turns into a magical alpine forest. Dogs are welcome in all areas of Neverland all year round including in the lodges and igloos. We enjoyed cosying up on the snuggly blankets and watching the humans eat their fondue. If you are looking for an usual place to celebrate Christmas or even New Year's Eve with your dog then check out their website to see what's on over the festive period. They do have a DJ and it can get loud so with dogs we highly recommend you book a lodge or igloo, where you can choose to have no music or play your own. In this blog we are wearing collars and leads by Overglam and bow ties by Teddy Maximus.
- Dogs Treated Like Royalty at The Artful Duke
If you're looking for a fabulous dining experience with your dog, then look no further than The Artful Duke in Bromley. This new South London pub takes dog friendly to a whole new level and is a must visit for all Four Legged Foodies. We love to try whatever the humans are having but they are just as greedy as us so there's often no leftovers. We were delighted to discover we had our own menu at The Artful Duke. The Doggo Menu has 2 delicious main courses, snacks by Miso and Me and a drink. We tried everything (obvs) and gave it a big paws up! While your humans enjoy their beers or cocktails, we can sip on our own beer from Woof and Brew or water is also available. Doggies will get their own bed to lie on in case the beer goes to their heads! This sort of behaviour from the humans however is very much frowned upon! The pub is very large and spacious so all size doggies can enjoy the experience without fear of being in the way or having your tail stepped on. If your humans like sport, they can also watch that here. Now that's what we call a sausage roll!! The humans suggested we didn't need any because we had our own meals - what a ridiculous suggestion! The humans can choose from the menus of small plates like these or larger dishes such as burgers or sausage and mash. There's a good selection of vegan dishes too. The pub is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy Christmas Dinner with your dog, then check out their festive menus here .. We visited The Artful Duke in November but if you visit in warmer weather, they have plenty of outdoor seating at the front of the pub. For walkies in the area, Bromley Park and Beckenham Place Park are nearby. Archie and Nacho x
