  • Swallow Fields Glamping Pods

A peaceful Essex escape https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Baxter and I recently spent a couple of nights at Swallows Field Glamping Pods in Essex, and it was exactly the sort of relaxing countryside break we both needed. Peaceful, dog friendly, and beautifully designed, it offered the perfect mix of comfort and fresh air. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Swallows Field is a small, adults only glamping site located just outside Colchester. With only three pods in total, each one has its own large, fully enclosed garden and is spaced out enough that you really feel like you have the place to yourself. Every pod comes with a private patio, outdoor seating, a fire pit, and lovely countryside views. Ideal for quiet mornings, sniffy strolls, and evening lounging. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ We visited with two other friends and hired all three pods, which made the whole experience feel extra special. Their dogs came too, so having the entire site to ourselves meant plenty of space for the pups to roam safely, and it created a really relaxed, private atmosphere. We hired a hot tub for the duration of our stay, which was set up just outside our pod. It was such a lovely treat to be able to unwind whenever we wanted while Baxter and his pals supervised from the patio. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Inside, the pod had everything we needed. A proper double bed, an ensuite shower, a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob and fridge freezer, and a little dining area. There was even a sofa, which Baxter wasted no time claiming as his own. The layout made great use of the space, and everything was spotless and thoughtfully done. It felt like a real home away from home. One of the nicest touches was the dog welcome pack waiting for us. Baxter had his own towel, water bottle, and a little stash of treats. It was such a lovely way to start the stay and showed just how dog friendly the site really is. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ The location is great if you want to explore. The site is right next to Fordham Heath, which has plenty of woodland paths, and it’s only a short drive from Constable Country, Colchester Castle, and some lovely pubs. There are also several dog friendly beaches nearby, including Frinton on Sea, Walton on the Naze, and Mersea Island. Look out for our upcoming blog post all about the one we visited during this trip. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ This was actually our second time visiting Swallows Field, and it was just as lovely as we remembered. Peaceful, beautifully kept, and genuinely welcoming to dogs like Baxter, it’s the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. Whether you’re looking for a quiet escape or a base to explore the Essex countryside, it’s definitely one to add to the list. Need to Know Location:  Swallows Field Glamping Pods, Fordham Heath, Colchester, Essex, CO3 9TN Website:   https://www.swallowsfieldglampingpods.co.uk Dog Friendly:  Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed per pod as standard. • Frinton Beach

From Frinton to Walton: A Seaside Walk Worth Sniffing Out https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ We headed to  Frinton-on-Sea  with Baxter and a couple of his pals, thinking we’d just have a gentle stroll along the beach — but it turned into one of the best walks we’ve done in a while. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ We started near  Frinton Golf Club , where the northern end of the beach is dog friendly all year round. The sand was soft, the tide was out, and the dogs couldn’t wait to get moving. Within seconds they were tearing across the beach, tails up, ears flying, paws already coated in salt and sand. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Eventually, we reached the stretch of beach where dogs aren’t allowed (seasonal restrictions apply, and it’s clearly signposted), so we popped up onto the  promenade  and continued the walk there. It’s a lovely, wide path lined with colourful beach huts and plenty of space for strolling with a lead on. Baxter took his job very seriously, inspecting every bench and railing as we passed. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ As soon as we reached the next dog-friendly section, we hopped back down onto the sand and carried on towards  Walton-on-the-Naze . There was so much to explore, groynes to climb, seaweed to sniff, stretches to zoom across , and the beach stayed calm and quiet the whole way. It’s one of those routes where there’s always something new to see, and the dogs were in their absolute element. https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Frinton has such a calm, relaxed feel. There are no noisy arcades or crowds, just pastel huts, open space, and the gentle soundtrack of the sea. It’s the sort of place that’s easy to overlook but well worth the visit, especially with dogs in tow. Need to Know Location : Frinton-on-Sea to Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex Dog Restrictions : Dogs are not allowed on the main Frinton beach from 1 May to 30 September. The northern end near the golf club is dog friendly year-round Walk Details : We walked 8.82 km return (just over 5.4 miles) from Frinton Golf Club to Walton Pier and back. You can walk along the beach where permitted or follow the promenade through the restricted zones. Toilets and Bins : Public toilets and dog waste bins are available near the beach huts Parking : We parked near Frinton Golf Club, where there’s free on-street parking just a short walk from the beach. There’s also free parking available all along the Esplanade, with easy access to the seafront Food & Drink : Frinton is quiet and residential, but Walton has more traditional seaside offerings like snack stalls and cafes Beach Type : Sandy with wooden groynes, beach huts, and a wide promenade DOG FRIENDLY ESSEX DOG FRIENDLY BEACH UK DOG BEACH ESSEX

  • Emma Simpkins Art

Perfect Pet Portraits https://www.instagram.com/skyegsd23/ We recently had a portrait commissioned of Skye from Emma Simpkins. Emma is so lovely, she can be found on her website where you can also find her social media links too. She is based in London where she attends many stalls to showcase her work, but she also has commissions open for people further afield too where she will then post your pet portrait to you. My experience with Emma was remote based, we mainly communicated via email where she asked for a high resolution photo of Skye she could use for her portrait. As she can only work from what you give her, so as much detail that is available in these photos, the better results she can provide for the finished drawing.  Usually a £50 deposit is required to secure your booking and Emma will give you a timeframe of when you can expect your portrait. These portraits are usually A4 and a head/shoulders drawing, however Emma is happy to work around you with what you would like. She is also willing to accommodate people with certain dates EG birthdays etc.  https://www.instagram.com/skyegsd23/ I can honestly say I am blown away with the detail of Skye's portrait, Emma has captured her really well. Her colouring is perfect, she has even added the little details of her tag too which I was super impressed with!  https://www.instagram.com/skyegsd23/ As I mentioned earlier, we had communicated remotely as I am based in Manchester, so my portrait was posted out to me (it arrived in perfect condition and was wrapped beautifully). If you are based closer to Emma, she loves to meet her clients face to face & is willing to hand deliver portraits if that is something that works for you.  Use code WOOFABOUT for a £25 discount on A4 colour portraits. • Some Grub Treats

Good for your dog and good for the planet Did you know insect powered treats contain more protein than beef, more iron than spinach and are more sustainable than soya? Just 3 more reasons to love Some Grub treats which are not only great for your pup's gut but also reduce their carbon pawprint. We love the ethical and healthy ethos that is the Some Grub brand and treats. The fact that these are low calorie, packed with protein and support gut health, amongst other benefits, are a real plus factor. The treats are small, smell really great, look appealing and Teddy loves them! The packaging is the ideal size for putting in your bag or pocket. With simple clear graphics and information that says exactly what it is in the bag. Not only that, it's good to know that these are available in a high street supermarket as well as online. Teddy and Claire https://www.instagram.com/skyegsd23/ We were sent some goodies for Skye to try from Somegrub, a pack of superfood, calming and nut butter. These are made from insect protein which is new for Skye and she loved them! They are small bite sized pieces which are perfect for training.  We are very impressed with the value of these treats and it is something that we will regularly be buying for Skye. She was super willing to do all her tricks for some of these tasty goodies!  Highly recommended!  Skye and Lorraine https://www.instagram.com/baxter.beagle.2021/ Baxter recently tried Some Grub treats, our first adventure into insect protein, and he was more than happy to be the taste tester. When it came to choosing, he went straight for Nut Butter, which wasn’t a big surprise given his love of peanut butter. I love that they are tasty, healthy, and perfect to pop in my pocket for training or walkies. Baxter and Sarah The treats from Some Grub were absolutely perfect for Marley. Their soft-baked texture made them incredibly easy for her to enjoy. Her absolute favourite was the nut butter flavour. And given Marley's chicken allergy, these insect-based treats were an ideal choice for her. Not only did she love the taste, but the treats also provided her with a nutritious alternative.   Marley and Alison DOG TREATS HEALTHY DOG TREATS INSECT DOG TREATS

  • The Pig and Butcher - Islington

Marley reviews this dog friendly gastropub in North London @marleymoo2000 The Pig and Butcher is an extremely dog friendly Gastropub in Islington, North London. It  is a short walk away from the hustle and bustle so it feels a lot quieter and not as busy. It has an old farmhouse style interior which feels extremely homely.   @marleymoo2000 From the offset we were made to feel welcome. We were asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside. There are a few tables outside. Even though it was a glorious day we chose to sit inside. We were seated in a corner spot where there was plenty of room for Marley to get comfortable. @marleymoo2000 When they took our drinks order they asked if Marley wanted a bowl of water which was well needed as it was a sunny day. We arrived at 1pm and there was still plenty of places to sit. By the time we left it was starting to get filled up. @marleymoo2000 If you're looking for somewhere to hold an event, they have a private function room upstairs. It looks like you are sitting in a farm kitchen. The table is down the middle of the kitchen . While we were there, there was a wedding reception happening upstairs. You would never have known though. It didn't affect the running of downstairs. @marleymoo2000 Their menu changes daily reflecting the most seasonal produce available. They have a team that hand pick fruit and vegetables from New Spitalfields Market and then collect the meat locally from Smithfield market. They butcher their own meat in their butchers room down stairs. What can I say about their food? Exquisite! Both me and my daughter had nothing but good things to say about the food we ate. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were attentive but also gave us the space we needed so we didn't feel rushed. For starters I had the XL hand dived scallop, celeriac in a Vermouth butter and my daughter had the Pig and Butcher Scotch egg and rapeseed Mayo. The scallop was cooked to perfection and the egg in the scotch egg was the right amount of runny and the casing was lovely and crispy. For main course, I had the Creedy Carver duck, confit leg, morels, Jerusalem artichoke  and hazelnut puree and my daughter had the Old spot pork belly, black pudding, creamed mash and green cabbage. The duck was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The meat on the confit leg was melt in the mouth and the hazelnut puree was to die for. The crackling on the pork was just right, not too crispy and not too chewy. The mashed potato was super creamy. For dessert I had the Strawberry and Jasmine tart, basil and clotted cream ice cream. The tart was stunning. The pastry was super thin and strawberries and basil were so refreshing. My daughter had the Petit fours. 2 bite size morsel. They might have been small but they were full of flavour. @marleymoo2000 Marley received lots of attention and cuddles from the staff. They even offered to get her some treats which she thoroughly enjoyed. Dog friendly Chinese Dumpling House https://www.instagram.com/the4leggedfoodies/ We take great pleasure in discovering hidden gems, and Xi Home Dumplings Bay is certainly one of them—like finding that treat you buried for later or discovering if you refuse to move from outside the restaurant long enough, your human will give up and go inside! https://www.instagram.com/the4leggedfoodies/ Located slightly off the main path on Blossom Street in Shoreditch, this North Chinese restaurant is a must-visit for all dumpling enthusiasts. Seriously, if you're not drooling at the thought of these little pockets of joy, you might need to check your pulse—because you’re probably a robot! https://www.instagram.com/the4leggedfoodies/ The humans did their usual and ordered too much but not as much as the guy on the next table who took the restaurants challenge of eating a 1kg dumpling in under 3 minutes - he failed btw. I offered to have a go but the humans were not keen. I think my stomach is a bottomless pit, but they think it's a bottomless pit with a very strict return policy! 💩 https://www.instagram.com/the4leggedfoodies/ Fortunately for everyone, I got my very own dumplings to try as the restaurant are dong a collaboration with our friends at Marleybones . To celebrate National Dog Day, pooches can get salmon or beef dumplings from August 26th to September 9th. https://www.instagram.com/the4leggedfoodies/ We all left with very full bellies and a take out bag so we could carry on enjoying the dumplings later.
