- We Know How to Staycation
Our stay at London's most Instagrammable Hotel. Our humans needed to use up some holiday from work but didn't want to travel too far so we decided to treat ourselves to a stay at nhow London. We stayed in the penthouse suite which has fabulous views across the City of London and is well equipped for a family stay. We each had our own luxurious room, glamorous dog bowls and plenty of space to run around on a carpet that looks our local park. We heard that they serve a doggie afternoon tea so we used the dog and bone to call down and reserve a table for 2! Our afternoon tea did not disappoint. In fact we would say it's the best we ever had! We had a selection of pupcakes, peanut butter bones, cookies and a puppuccino. There was so much we had to have a doggy bag to enjoy in our room later. The humans also had their own tea and cake so they didn't feel left out. It would be a crime to stay at a nhow Hotel and not take hundreds of photos as there is so much to see. We are always camera ready and happy to pose in return for treats. We joined our humans for dinner in the bar area (pooches are welcome in the restaurant but there was a private event on the night we stayed). The menu is pub style food such as burgers and fish and chips. The humans also enjoyed a few cocktails. Luckily we were still full from our tea so we slept in the Pooch and Mutt beds under the table. All that posing and eating is hard work you know! Time to retire to our super comfy room for a long sleep and dream about breakfast. The breakfast is buffet style served in the bar area and we were delighted to get our obligatory sausage. Then we had to squeeze in a few more photos before we checked out. It's thirsty work being a superstar so lucky there are plenty of water stations available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at nhow London . The staff make doggies feel as welcome as any human guests and we highly recommend a stay to all our Four Legged pals. Check out our reel for the full experience of our stay. Some things you need to know before you visit: There is a small car park (10 spaces) with a cost of £35 per day The hotel is within Congestion Zone ULEZ A max of 2 dogs per room Dogs below 25kg are welcome in the rooms Dogs pay £35 per stay Dogs are welcome in all areas
- Time to Treat the 2 Legged Foodies
Our top 5 dog friendly London restaurants of 2023 which are for foodies of the 4 and 2 legged variety. Our humans dedicate most of their spare time to finding the best places to eat where we can join them but every now and then, we discover places that are just as much of a treat for them as a plate full of sausages are for us. These 5 restaurants are are our 2023 top picks for (human) foodies but where pooches are also still very welcome. For beautiful food in a stunning setting, head to Paladar . The restaurant is one of those hidden in plain sight gems that every foodie MUST visit. Don’t be put off by the unassuming facade in an area where the restaurant pretty much stands alone. Once inside, you will be greeted by the most welcoming staff who will serve you some treats, then treat the humans to delicious food from Latin America. Pooches are welcome everywhere but the secret garden is beautiful spot to enjoy the equally beautiful food. The restaurant is based on the original Tuscan villa and vineyard which is still in the family with a pretty outdoor terrace (partly covered) and matching interior decor. Two legged foodies can enjoy freshly prepared dishes such as Wild Boar pappardelle and grilled monkfish. A few options for vegetarians but not a lot for vegans. Every dish is packed with flavour and beautifully presented. They also have an extensive wine cellar. All four legged foodies are welcome and the restaurant is spacious and cool, there is also a comfortable lounge with sofas where you can relax with a coffee. Our humans adored the beef bubble and squeak and the king prawn & crayfish roll. Pooches are treated well here with plenty of treats and there is even a doggy corner where you can buy bowls to take home. If you're lucky, you might even bump into the part-owner Idris Elba! And if you're even luckier, you will get to meet Cooper the resident pooch. Where: Porte Noir Gasholder 10, A, 1 Lewis Cubitt Walk, London N1C 4BX Follow: portenoirkx You might not necessarily put Mexican and Japanese food together but if you visit Los Mochis , you will see it works! We have sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner here and every mouthful has been a gastronomic delight. We are looking forward to their second restaurant opening in the City in 2024! Pooches are treated like royalty at Los Mochis as the restaurant is named after a dog! They often have special treats for dogs like their pooch menu which they offer on National Dog Day. Where: Los Mochis 2-4 Farmer St, London W8 7SN Follow: losmochislondon What we like best about our job (and being London pooches) is being able to sample food from all over the world. So imagine our delight when we got to accompany the humans to an Indian restaurant. Chatora is not a curry house, instead you get dishes like lobster, lamb shank and tiger prawns all served with intense flavours. The staff even brought us some lamb (no spices) to try so we didn’t feel left out. Now, strictly we pooches are welcome outside this restaurant but it’s more of an inside/outside space - completely covered roof and sides and plenty of heaters and blankets. We visited in November and we weren't cold. Where: Chatora 100 Kew Rd, Richmond TW9 2PQ Follow: chatora_richmond
- Pubs with Good Grub
Our top 5 dog friendly London pubs who also serve great food for 2 legged foodies. We love a good boozer and are lucky that London has a plethora of pubs that love four legged visitors. Some pubs stand out for their food and here are our top 5 from 2023. Coach and Horses Isleworth The Coach and Horses in Isleworth is a Young's pub with a great outdoor space and even a car park! The menu transported us to a top restaurant in Cornwall as the mussels tasted fresh from the sea and the vegetarian Sunday roast was simply scrumptious. - This is the Place
Sloane Place, Chelsea is the perfect London hotel for an indulgent dog friendly stay At the beginning of February, the humans left us for a holiday in the sun so to make up for abandoning us, we were treated to a stay at Sloane Place in Chelsea. The hotel is in a magnificent building on Sloane Street, which runs from Sloane Square down to the river. We stayed in a suite which has a comfy living area with everything you'll need including beds for us and a coffee machine for the humans. The rooms have views across the Thames to Battersea Power Station. Before dinner we like to have a little freshen up and always take our Sniffe & Likkit woofpack on our overnight stays. Use code FLF10 for 10% off yours. After sniffing out all the room facilities, it was time to check out the restaurant. Pooches are welcome to join their humans anywhere in the restaurant and will be offered treats and water. The menu for humans is British-Javanese inspired and is all beautifully presented alongside a good selection of cocktails. Archie's pyjamas from Rosewood Pet With full bellies, we headed back to our room to get into our PJs and settle in for a good sleep. The hotel is very quiet and the human bed is super comfy. Human's pyjamas by Chelsea Peers NYC The next morning we decided to be lazy and have breakfast in our room (with an extra sausage for us obviously) but dogs are welcome back in the restaurant for breakfast if you prefer. Nacho's harness by Reg & Bob The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Chelsea, Belgravia and the King's Road or take a short stroll over the bridge and you're in Battersea Park. Alternatively, you an choose from the small plates which are served all day. The humans recommend fried chicken, yuca fries and pastelitos (beef turnovers). - A Place to Spread your Wings
Four Legged Foodies stay at this beautiful dog friendly hotel in Wandsworth. We recently visited The Spread Eagle in Wandsworth for dinner and an overnight stay and are pleased to report that it far exceeded our expectations. We have driven past the pub hundreds of times as it is on the Wandsworth gyratory, and despite the grand façade of this huge pub, we never thought of visiting. But we are so glad we finally did. Across the covered courtyard from the pub you will find the hotel which has 21 beautifully decorated rooms with plenty of space for pooches to stay with their humans. The hotel is a grade II listed Victorian building which has been restored with many original features remaining. Beds, bowls and treats await four legged guests in the room. Nacho checked out the mini bar - just water for him! Like the hotel, the pub is a beautiful Victorian building that has been recently restored. It is a huge space with a wonderful bar and a mixture of comfy seats and tables. The building has been a Young's Pub since 1836 and has a rich history which you can read more about here . We visited on a Sunday so we could sample their famous roasts and we weren't disappointed. Our humans sampled 28-day day aged fore rib of beef and Rolled Blyburgh pork belly with all the trimmings and lashings of scrumptious gravy. Accompanied nicely by some red wine. We gave them just the right amount of adorable looks to make sure we got a taste too! With full bellies all round, we retired to our room for a good night's sleep. Our room faced the busy road but fortunately it's not that busy overnight and we didn't hear the traffic until it was time to get up for breakfast. Breakfast is served back in the pub with choices like eggs benedict, Orange and Fennel Cured Smoked Salmon, scrambled Eggs, Smashed Avo etc but the humans always go for a full English with extra sausage for us! We walked off that extra sausage at nearby Wandsworth Park which is just a short stroll from The Spread Eagle. It's a small park but has great views of the Thames. We had a perfect night at The Spread Eagle and highly recommend to our friends visiting London for a reasonably priced stay, just 15 minutes from central London. Check out our reel for the full experience of our stay What you need to know: Up to 2 pups in room for £15 extra charge. Rooms from £119. Dogs are welcome to join you in the pub for lunch, dinner and breakfast There is no parking at the hotel, not even to drop off luggage. Wandsworth Park is a 15 minute walk away. - Dogs Who Brunch (Part 2)
6 (more) dog friendly London places to brunch with your dog this weekend As we approach the end of National Brunch month, we've been getting around as many as we can for our favourite meal of the day. There is no need to panic though as brunch will still be available at these great places after April. Imagine our delight when we heard our favourite Danish bakery Ole & Steen were opening in our home town. Our humans have been enjoying their baked goods, especially their signature cinnamon social, for years and now they are right on our doorstep. Maybe not so good for their waistlines but really good if you fancy a sweet treat. They do also sell savoury dishes and sandwiches. We decided to enjoy ours al fresco because it was a sunny day but pooches are welcome indoors at all locations. Ole & Steen various locations across London Follow @oleandsteenuk Another great nationwide restaurant chain we are lucky to have on our doorstep is Bill's . We were delighted to hear that they recently launched a doggo menu in collaboration with Denzel's and Scoops . Pooches get to enjoy a selection of treats(including Denzel's brunch treats), ice cream and dog wine, while the humans enjoy dishes such as Brunch Shwarma and the Ultimate Brunch Sandwich. - We Don't Like to Brag but...
We loved our visit to dog friendly wine bar and restaurant Humble Grape Grapes are an absolute no, no for dogs so luckily you will only find the liquid version at Humble Grape in the hundreds of bottles of wine for your humans to choose from. We visited the Battersea Rise location (which we booked on Wagit ) and were greeted with treats from the friendly staff. Pooches are welcome throughout the bar and restaurant but they do get very busy in the evenings so choose your times depending on your dog's sensibilities! At this restaurant there are a few stairs to negotiate to get to your table but they were very accommodating about somewhere to put our friend Lola's stroller. Make sure your humans are sensible around all that wine by pairing it with some delicious food. They can choose from nibbles like Nocellara olives and smoked almonds, cheese and charcuterie boards, main course like cote de boeuf and seared stonebass. Or, like our humans, choose a selection of small plates. They tried padron peppers, burrata with Rhubarb, radish, mint and lemon pesto, chilli fried chicken, crispy cauliflower, monkfish medallions and trout ceviche. Every bite was a mouthful of joy! The knowledgeable staff will help you choose the right wine to go with your food. When you've found your perfect wines, you can also buy bottles to take home. If you're still deciding, they also host regular tasting events. All Humble Grape locations (Battersea, Islington, Canary Wharf, Fleet Street, Crouch End and Liverpool Street) welcome four legged foodies and you can book your table on Wagit. #dogfriendlylondon #dogfriendlywinebar #dogfriendlybattersea #dogfriendlyislington #dogfriendlycanarywharf
- Feed Your Soul at The Alma
Our stay at this dog friendly pub with rooms in Wandsworth The name Alma means 'to lift one's spirit' or 'feed the soul' which aptly describes our experience at this Young's pub in Wandsworth. Our souls were well fed at The Alma , as we helped ourselves to treats from the bar and then we assisted the humans (who as usual suffered from a case of eyes bigger than bellies) to polish off their Sunday Roast. They chose the Chicken Sharing Roast, where you get a whole chicken and a mountain of veggies, Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets!! We watched all the food being prepared from the open kitchen and Nacho was able to shout for more pigs in blankets! Then our spirits were lifted when we discovered we didn't have to go back out in the rain to travel home. We just had to walk down the corridor to our gorgeous garden suite. We brought our Pooch & Mutt treats in case we got the nibbles during the night. Use code the4leggedfoodies for 30% off at Pooch & Mutt. After a few after dinner drinks, it was time for bed.... We all had a fabulous night's sleep as the hotel is very quiet and the beds are super comfy. The next morning, our friend Lola from Wagit joined us for breakfast, where the humans could choose from cooked dishes or the buffet with pastries and fruit etc. We have an understanding with our humans that if we have to share a hotel room with them and their bad habits, then they have to order a Full English and share the sausage! The Alma is a great place to stay for pooches, with a large bar area and restaurant plus an outdoor courtyard area and tables outside at the front. The Alma 499 Old York Rd, London SW18 1TF There is no parking at the hotel but parking is free on nearby streets at weekends and after 4.30pm on weekdays. The hotel is opposite Wandsworth Town rail station which is 10 minutes from Waterloo. Dogs are welcome throughout the pub, restaurant and hotel area. Up to 2 dogs can stay overnight for £15 total and beds, blankets, bowls and treats are provided. The Garden Suite has an enclosed courtyard garden. Rooms start from £119 per night. Wandsworth Park is a 15 minute walk away. Nearby Southside Shopping Centre is dog friendly and has Black Sheep Coffee and Brewdog for refreshments.
- Parklife! Know what I mean?...
London's best green spaces for that perfect dog walk and where to stop off for refreshments. Did you know London is one of the greenest cities in Europe? With 3,000 parks of varying sizes designated by the boroughs as ‘public open space’, London is a green city. Together they cover almost 18% of London which is more than the area of the city covered by railways and roads combined. This is great news for four legged adventurers as you could try a new place to walk every day for just over 8 years!! We haven't managed to try all 3,000 yet but here are some of our favourites and of course, the all important dog friendly places nearby to stop off an refuel. Let's start with what is probably the best know of our London parks - Hyde Park. This Royal Park covers 350 acres and has features such as Diana Memorial Fountain, Kensington Palace, the Serpentine River and Albert Memorial. The park borders the areas of Bayswater, Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Kensington so there is no shortage of great places to stop off nearby. Leave the park at the Bayswater side and it's a short hop to The Porchester . This spacious pub is the perfect place for humans and pooches to stop and refuel after big walkies. Their Sunday roast is a must and if you're a really good pooch, they will make a special one for you too. Other great places nearby include: Los Mochis , Queens of Mayfair , Mall Tavern and Yeotown . Let's head to South West London and our closest park. Richmond Park is the largest of London's Royal Parks at a whopping 2500 acres. It supports a host of rare species and is home to thousands of trees. The park is most famous for the wild deer who inhabit it and gained world fame thanks to the Fenton viral video. The park borders Richmond, Kingston, Sheen and Putney, all with plenty of dog friendly options. If you leave the park at Richmond Gate you will find The Lass O'Richmond Hill just around the corner. This Young's pub is the perfect place to stop off for lunch after walkies, it's bigger than it looks from the front and has terrace at the back. It even has one of those rare things for a London pub - a car park!! Other great places near Richmond Park include: Hare and Hounds , The Marlborough , The Plough and The Albert . Battersea Park is one of the most Instagrammable of the London parks thanks to the variety of stunning features within, such as the Victorian bandstand, the Peace Pagoda and the Festival Gardens. The park is great for a variety of walkies with big open spaces for pooches who love a big run and the tree-lined promenade for those who want a scenic stroll. The park leads on to the Thames path and the newly developed Battersea Power Station which is SUPER dog friendly. Other great places near Battersea Park include: Pear Tree Cafe , Humble Grape and Megan's Over in the south east, you will find the magnificent Greenwich Park. This is a park that is rich in heritage and has something for everyone. There is plenty of space for picnics, lots of trees providing shade and some fantastic views! From the top, you can see all across London. Obviously great views come at a price and there is a steep walk to the top of the park but at least there is a step free route. The park is also home to The National Maritime Museum, The Royal Observatory and The Old Royal Naval College. Nearby you can also see the Cutty Sark and enjoy Greenwich Market. Within the park, attached to the Old Royal Naval College is Young's pub The Old Brewery. As the name suggests, this used to be the Greenwich Meantime brewery and you will still find the original brewing tanks in the dining room. This is a large pub with dining room, bar area and a HUGE garden! Humans can enjoy decent pub classics and they also have a burger shack. Other great places near Greenwich Park include: Heap's Sausages , The Coach and Horses and Greenwich Tavern . In central London you will discover Green Park. This is one of the smaller Royal Parks but probably the most regal as it is the back garden to Buckingham Palace. You can walk from Piccadilly down its tree lined avenues and get the best view of the Palace for watching changing of the guards (11.00 Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays). It's also a great place to relax with a picnic and lots of squirrels to chase! Across from the park, within the Sheraton Grand London hotel you will find the super dog friendly Smith & Whistle. This is a swanky cocktail bar serving light lunches and dinners for humans with a menu dedicated to four legged diners. Pooches get to choose from Pedigree Fries or Chuck O'Clock, washed down with Hounds Hops or Posh Pooch wine. Humans can choose their own loaded fries or dishes like lobster roll, burgers and fish and chips and a great selection of cocktails. Watch this space for more parks coming soon......
- Al Fresco? Who Dis?
6 dog friendly places with stunning outdoor dining! The terrace at Arber Garden As you know, we only consider a place to be truly dog friendly if they welcome us inside and out. Twelve years ago, when Archie was a pup, these places were rare and we would sit outside restaurants come rain or snow just so he could join us. We are so grateful that things have progressed so much since then but when the sun is shining it's still nice to sit outside so the humans can get their dose of vitamin D. We don't like the hot weather so we always appreciate a place that offers us some shade too! Here are 6 of our favourite Al Fresco dining spots! (We have yet to meet this Al whoever he is). Oh and all 6 places welcome us inside too! The Hare & Hounds is a Young's pub in East Sheen with one of the largest and most tastefully decorated gardens we have ever seen. No overflowing ashtrays or dirty floors here, instead there are olive trees, lavender bushes and cute little dining cabins, all making this an ideal place to spend a sunny evening. Pooches have a bar inside to help themselves to treats and water and humans can choose from good selection of above average pub grub! Hare & Hounds 214-216 Upper Richmond Rd W, London SW14 8AH @hare_hounds From the front of Paladar , you would have no idea that this beautiful secret garden was hiding at the back. The restaurant is worth a visit for the garden alone (which is actually covered so good at any time of year) but the human food is some of the best they had this year! The menu is inspired by Latin American cuisine and each plate (whether large or small) is packed with flavour that will leave you wanting to visit this Southwark restaurant time an again. Pooches get treats and water and lots of attention from staff. Paladar 4-5 London Rd, London SE1 6JZ @paladarlondon Another of the human's favourite places is Villa di Geggiano in Chiswick which is beautifully decorated inside with a partially covered terrace that makes you feel like you are in the Tuscan countryside that inspires this restaurant. Staff here are soooo dog friendly that they even have photos of their Four Legged friends on their gallery wall. The food also reflects the Tuscan heritage with authentic recipes and ingredients making this one of THE best places for Italian food in London. Villa di Geggiano 66-68 Chiswick High Rd., Chiswick, London W4 1SY @villa_di_geggiano_london The Broadcaster is a huge pub/restaurant right next to Television Centre in White City. Take the lift to the 2nd floor, where you will find a stunning roof terrace with plenty of space and its own bar. The humans enjoyed a delicious brunch here while we feasted on treats delivered to our table by super friendly staff. The food is beautifully presented with a varied mane and some excellent cokctails. if you hang around long enough, you might even bump into a TV celeb (maybe this is where the infamous Al Fresco hangs out)!! The Broadcaster 89 Wood Ln, London W12 7FX @thebroadcasterlondon Another pub/restaurant with lots of space is The Arber Garden in Fitzrovia which has multiple rooms inside where pooches are welcome. Outside in the traffic-free Pearson Square, you can relax under cover in the pretty floral terrace. The waiter made sure we were happy first by bringing treats and the humans had a fabulous lunch washed down with a cocktail. We previously visited for Sunday lunch which also comes highly recommended by the humans. The Arber Garden 1 Pearson Square, London W1W 7EY @thearbergarden If you are visiting King's Cross for The Big Woof this weekend (or any other time) , then you must try out The Lighterman . This pub/restaurant has not one but three outdoor terraces! On ground level you can take lunch overlooking the fountains in Granary Square or if you prefer to look down on people, you can sip a sundowner on the first floor balcony. The third option is to enjoy a summer evening overlooking the canal on the lower ground floor terrace. The menu for human food is a good variety and our humans highly recommend the flatbreads (they've tried them all)! This week (21st to 27th August) pooches can choose from their own doggie menu in collaboration with Caboodle .
