  • Catalina's - Fiesta Time for Dogs

During lockdown the humans really got into Taco Tuesdays so they were delighted to discover this new Mexican restaurant in Fitzrovia and even more delighted to discover they are fanatical about dogs! Catalina's is inspired by and named after the chef's Mexican grandmother and the food would not disappoint her as it is packed full of flavour and beautifully presented. We dogs receive the warmest welcome from resident dog Talula and her friendly staff and we have our own extensive menu. Talula is the dog behind food brand Talula Eats which is made at the restaurant Monday to Thursday and then served to eager Four Legged Foodies on Fridays and Saturdays. Humans can also chat to resident dog nutritionist Rupal to find out more about Talula Eats food and get advice about your diet - apparently this word doesn't always mean you have to eat less!! Doggies can choose from a 3 course menu which includes treats, gourmet homemade food and a slice (or two) of cake! If you are very lucky, you will get to try this delicious doggie pizza! Their homemade dog cakes and treats are also available to be taken home and enjoyed later. I took some home for Nacho but might have nibbled on it on the train. What we love most about Catalina's is how friendly they are. The staff couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. If you like cuddles, there are plenty on offer at Catalina's! I took my pal Cedric for lunch and we were greeted with a special welcome on the table. They even rearranged the furniture so we could get some good photos. So if you fancy a relaxing lunch or dinner with your humans then head down to Fitzrovia and tell them Archie sent you! And remember....Tacos are NOT just for Tuesdays!

  • Dog Friendly Greenwich

Exploring dog friendly Greenwich in South East London Greenwich is an area of London that really does have something for everyone. There is culture, history, shopping, plenty of green spaces and an abundance of fabulous eateries. Oh and its' a great place to visit with your dog! Start of the day the way every day should start - with a good breakfast! Enderby House is a Young's pub on the riverside and serves brunch Monday to Saturday. Dogs get free treats and can buy a Jude's doggy ice cream. Like much of the area, the pub is steeped in history and is located in a converted 1830's house which belonged to the firm of Samuel Enderby, the largest whalers and sealers in Britain, and pioneers of Antarctic exploration. Hermann Melville describes their flagship and crew in “Moby Dick”. The pub is spacious and airy inside and has a river facing terrace outside. From the pub you can take a lovely riverside stroll for 1 mile into Greenwich centre or in the other direction you will reach the O2 in just 8 minutes. Devon crab and crayfish Royale at Enderby House Another great riverside eatery close by is Riverside Café where you can get breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and great coffee. Dogs can get treats and ice cream here too while you watch the boats go by on the Thames. Walk off your brekkie with a stroll in Greenwich Park. The park has something for everyone. There is plenty of space for picnics, lots of trees providing shade and some fantastic views! From the top, you can see all across London. Obviously great views come at a price and there is a steep walk to the top of the park but at least there is a step free route. Second stop on our Greenwich pub crawl is The Cutty Sark pub which has been serving drinks to people for over 200 hundred years! Inside the pub you will be transported back to that time with the original features, including creaky wooden stairs reminding us of the boat the pub is named after. Treats and ice cream are available for pooches and the human food is not your average pub grub but more like a menu and quality you'll find in a good restaurant. There is a terrace opposite the pub for river views. Catch of the Day at The Cutty Sark pub The pub's namesake is a short stroll away. Dogs aren't allowed on board unfortunately but you can still get some great photos (preferably without a human ruining it). From here, head into Greenwich centre and immerse yourself in the glory of Greenwich Market. Here you will find a plethora of independent traders selling everything from street food to gifts, clothes, art....you name it. Pooches are welcome to stroll around on foot or in their wheels! At one end of the market, you will discover another great Young's pub - The Coach and Horses. More history for you - this pub had been around since the 1800's and used to be a tea salon! Nowadays it is a fabulous pub where pooches are most welcome by some of the friendliest staff we ever met. Every single one of them wanted to come and say hello to us and give us treats. No complaints here! For the humans, their homemade sausage rolls are a must try. The pub is quite small inside but has plenty of space within the market. Sausage roll and baked camembert at Coach and Horses Back to the park for a rest, being a tour guide is tiring you know! As you can see, the park is well used, especially on warm days. It is also home to The Old Royal Naval College, National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory. Attached to the Old Royal Naval College is Young's pub The Old Brewery. As the name suggests, this used to be the Greenwich Meantime brewery and you will still find the original brewing tanks in the dining room. This is a large pub with dining room, bar area and a HUGE garden! Humans can enjoy decent pub classics and they also have a burger shack. Stroll back through the park and soak up a bit more history, before we stop in at pub number 5! Opposite the park gates you will find The Greenwich Tavern . As soon as you walk in, you will see a dog bar with bottomless treats and water - always a good start! The pub is spacious inside and has a secluded courtyard garden where humans can enjoy their grub and some fantastic cocktails. No self-respecting dog can visit Greenwich without visiting Heaps Sausages which is just around the corner from Greenwich Tavern. The shop is small but they now have a great courtyard at the rear with its own bar and seating. All visiting dogs get their own bag of sausage slices and staff will take a Polaroid of you to add to their pooch wall of fame. Look out for Nacho if you go! If you fancy trying something different, take the IFS Cloud cable car from the peninsula in North Greenwich and soar over the river to The Royal Dock. Archie wasn't sure about its wobbliness but the rest of us enjoyed it. One last Young's pub to visit before we head home for the day and start a diet!! The Richard 1st is a short stroll from the park and welcomes dogs inside and in their rear garden. Pub classics are served for humans and they are part of the City to Sea Refill scheme which means humans and dogs can refill their bottles and bowls for free. Nacho standing on the Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory Time for us to go home. The Meridian Line runs through Greenwich Park and for those who don't know, this is the reference point for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). We took the Uber Thames Clipper home from Greenwich to Battersea which is a great way to travel if you're not a fan of the tube. #dogfriendlygreenwich #dogfriendlygreenwichlondon #dogfriendlylondon #londonparks #greenwichlondon #dogfriendlylondonpubs #dogfriendlylondoncafes

Cocktails, brunch and much more at Exhibit Bar This vibrant bar over two floors is light and spacious with plenty of covered outdoor space too! Four Legged Foodies are welcome everywhere and will be greeted with fresh water and treats. The humans were also offered extra bacon so they could share with us, just make sure you get it as we know what these greedy humans are like. Speaking of the humans, they enjoyed a most delicious brunch, washed down with cocktails. The Exhibit has a great private hire space which is perfect for doggie parties and they even have a dog friendly cinema! It is also handy if you have a chauffeur as it is next to Sainsbury's car park where you can park free for 2 hours. The pub is very large with areas either side of an impressive bar, some tables outside the front and a large rear garden with some covered booths. Where: 39 Balham High Rd, London SW12 9AN Website: devonshirebalham.co.uk Spot some famous faces at The Bedford This iconic pub has been around since the 19th century! It is famous for hosting cabaret and live music but is also very welcoming to Four Legged Foodies. We are requested to leave the dining room to humans without pooches (who are these people??) but we can sit wherever we want in the large bar area. The human food has a Mediterranean vibe with some British classics thrown in and fresh handmade pizza. Just beware that it can get very busy and noisy on cabaret nights but you might get lucky and bump into Ed Sheeran! • Oh Mamma We Love These Treats

Mammaly Dog Snacks get The Four Legged Foodies seal of approval! Mammaly are described as Dog Snacks with Benefits as each flavour contains specific natural ingredients to aid your dog with a variety of health and wellness issues.* Each flavour has added ingredients such as pre and probiotics, herbs and minerals and all ingredients have been approved by vets to offer nutritional benefits to pooches. Think of them as tasty supplements for your pooch! "We are Mammaly, a company by dog owners for dog owners. Our journey began in February 2020 - since then we have been able to help thousands of dogs in Germany with our products and improve their long-term health. We are learning every day and constantly researching high quality ingredients, products and supplements - because your doggo deserves the very best!" Archie and Nacho sampled the whole range of Mammaly Snacks which come in 325g tins. We calculated this means one tin will last around 2 months for 2 small dogs. Each snack is around the size of a 10 pence piece and is soft, easy to digest and not stinky which is great for when you are out and about. In fact, the Fresh Smile ones reminded us of opening a box of After Eight mints at Christmas! Nacho tested Puppy Power and Relax Time and Archie tried Lucky Belly and Forever Young. They both had one a day of each for 2 months and here's how they got on. Everyone says Archie doesn't look his age but we are starting to see the signs of his 12 years, especially in the last 6 months. He sometimes hobbles when he gets up from a snooze and he rarely breaks into a run on walkies (except when the treats come out obvs). Plus he has Mitral Valve Disease which means his heart is enlarged and he mustn't over exert himself. Forever Young is a daily vitality booster for dogs over 7 and has an active ingredient called L-carnitine L-carnitine is involved in the process of energy production in your doggo's cells. It is particularly important for the heart, the muscles and the immune system. It also facilitates oxygen uptake during physical exertion. Green lipped mussel supports joints and bones and nettle has a revitalising, antispasmodic effect. We are continuing to give these treats daily to Archie along with his regular Galen Myotherapy treatments to improve his mobility. Nacho is a young dog and we want to keep him healthy and active as he grows older. Strong bones are vital in dogs who are as bouncy as Nacho and the Puppy Power snacks have Lecithin which supports growth of bones and connective bone tissue. He is also an eating machine on 4 legs and will eat anything he comes across on walks so we are mindful of tummy problems. The snacks are infused with essential oils from chamomile, fennel and rosemary. You can smell these when you open the pack! Both Archie and Nacho have situations they can find stressful. Like many dogs, they are not keen on fireworks and thunderstorms but Archie also finds car journeys stressful. Nacho can get very protective of food and his humans which causes him to be anxious. The Relax Time snacks contain chamomile, hemp and valerian, all of which have calming effects on their central nervous system. When doggies get stressed, it can also impact their stomachs so the snacks also have pre and probiotics along with ginger and turmeric to promote a healthy gut and prevent inflammation. As you can see they had a great effect on Archie now we just need to find some snacks for us so we can cope with the 2 little monkeys! Being such foodies has some benefits but it can mean the boys sometimes overdo it or pick up something they shouldn't from the park (including deer and horse poop)! When that happens it can cause stomach problems. As Archie gets older, we have also noticed his digestive system is not as sturdy as it used to be. Lucky Belly snacks contain ingredients which support the digestive system and protect the gut such as fennel, carrots, beet, celery, zucchini and pumpkin. Archie and Nacho would turn up their noses at these ingredients individually and who could be bothered with all that chopping! But add some chicken liver and insect protein and make them into a bitesize treat and they love it! Since the boys started having Mammaly snacks, we have noticed some immediate improvements such as fresher breath and less wind but these supplements are intended as longer term health benefit for pooches so we will continue to take them as we always want the best for our boys! If you would like to give Mammaly Snacks a try, you can shop for them here . The full range is not yet available in UK. *Mammaly snacks are designed to promote long-term wellbeing in your dog. We do not advise they are used as a replacement to vet prescribed medication. If your dog shows signs of pain or distress from any of the issues mentioned above, please contact your vet for advice.

  • Diet? What Diet?

The Four Legged Foodies try out the new 3 course doggy menu at The Marlborough in Richmond The Marlborough is a Young's pub on Richmond Hill which is quite local to us so we have been a few times before. When we heard they had launched a doggy menu we ran back up that hill with our tails a wagging! Pooches of all sizes are very welcome throughout the pub but if weather permits you must check out the back garden. The outdoor space is huge and has a mixture of pagodas, parasols, garden rooms and (at time of writing) a beach with deckchairs. Indoors has excellent air conditioning for these hot summer days! Two legged foodies can expect a menu with some classic pub dishes such as burgers and fish and chips but there are some seasonal additions such as this vegan pea and braised leek tart. Now let's get to the reason we are all here, the 3 course doggy menu! Once the humans stopped stuffing their faces we were able to get to the main event! The friendly waiter brought us the first 2 courses in these stylish bowls (why should it just be humans who have well presented food?). Starter was lamb kidney bread, followed by beef stew complete with a Bonio spoon! All our food was prepared by the same chef as the human's using fresh, healthy ingredients. See the videos below for how much we enjoyed it all. Nacho forgot his napkin! We don't need to diet to be beach body ready! We decided to retire to the deckchairs for our ice cream made from yogurt, strawberries and banana. Nearby there is an hydration station with fresh water and bowls for us. We highly recommend all pups try the doggy menu at The Marlborough . The pub has doggy event planned later this month. Follow their Instagram for upcoming details.

  • Go Wild for these Locals

Four Legged Foodies explore these Gladwin Brothers Local & Wild restaurants We love living in a big city but we do also appreciate a spot of the good old English countryside. If you're looking for a bit of both when dining with your pooch then look no further! These Gladwin Brothers restaurants bring a bit of the Sussex countryside to London by bringing their seasonal, British produce to the tables. Expect hand-reared meat from the Gladwin farm, berries from the Sussex hedgerows and wine from their very own vineyard in the Sussex village of Nutbourne. There are 6 Local & Wild restaurants in London for you to explore. Let's start with Nutbourne which is named after the Sussex village where the Gladwin Brothers vineyard is located. Nutbourne is located in Ransome's Dock, just a 5 minute walk from Battersea Park. After a stroll through one of London's prettiest Royal Parks, we stopped off for a spot of lunch and were delighted to find not only water but a plate of treats waiting for us. It was a sunny day, so we enjoyed the terrace which overlooks the dock and after the obligatory photos for the 'gram, the humans tucked into some delicious looking food. At Nutbourne , two legged foodies can enjoy breakfast at the weekends, lunch and dinner every day and roasts on Sundays. The menus change with the seasons and the chefs are encouraged to put their own take on the fresh ingredients they receive from the farm. Where: 29 Ransomes Dock, 35-27 Parkgate Road, Battersea, London, SW11 4NP Follow: @nutbourne_resto Next stop was The Fat Badger which is just down the road from us in Richmond. This time we decided to try the Sunday Roast after a stroll by the river. We were once again welcomed very warmly by the staff and brought water and treats. We love it when the humans have Sunday roast as there is always a bit left over for us but it was touch and go this time because the food was so tasty with melt in the mouth beef, fluffy yorkshire puds and super tasty gravy (female human's favourite). At The Fat Badger , two legged foodies can enjoy all day dining including weekend brunch, Sunday Roast and Group Feasting! Where: 15-17 Hill Rise, Richmond, TW10 6UQ Follow: @thefatbadger_resto The latest opening of a Local & Wild restaurant is the Black Lamb in Wimbledon Village. After walkies on Wimbledon Common, we popped in to try their new Plant Led set lunch menu (the menu is currently available at all locations). The Plant Led menu is not simply a plant based menu (so not vegan) but rather a selection of dishes where plants are the star attraction and any meat or fish additions are there to compliment them rather than vice versa. As with all the restaurants, the menu changes regularly depending on what ingredients are available but two legged foodies can expect some mouth-watering dishes like Nutbourne Tomato Salad and Pea and Mint Orzotto. Four Legged Foodies will receive the same warm welcome as at all their restaurants. Where: 67 High St, Wimbledon, SW19 5EE Follow: @theblacklamb_resto The 3 restaurants we visited welcome four legged foodies throughout. There are 3 others who welcome us in restricted areas, if you wish to visit The Shed , Sussex or Rabbit , please check with the restaurant in advance.

  • Summer Fun (Part 2)

Summer is here and the weather is back to just warm instead of nuclear hot so we doggies can start to enjoy some outdoor activities with our humans. Here are some more ideas from us of fun things to do in and around London this Summer. Take in the views and watch a movie at Bussey Rooftop Bar Rooftop Film Club have nightly showings throughout the Summer on the roof of the Bussey Building in Peckham and dogs are welcome to join their humans. Watch classics such as The Goonies and Pulp Fiction or new releases Bullet Train and Maverick. Two legged foodies can relax in the deckchairs with Pizza from Share a Slice and cocktails from the bar. Where: Roof A, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Ln, London SE15 4ST Follow: @rooftopfilmclub Experience the splendour of a Tuscan Villa (without leaving London) Villa di Gegganio in Chiswick is based on the original Tuscan villa and vineyard which is still in the family with a pretty outdoor terrace (partly covered) and matching interior decor. Two legged foodies can enjoy freshly prepared dishes such as Wild Boar pappardelle and grilled monkfish. Every dish is packed with flavour and beautifully presented. They also have an extensive wine cellar. All four legged foodies are welcome and the restaurant is spacious and cool, there is also a comfortable lounge with sofas where you can relax with your humans over a coffee. Where: 66-68 Chiswick High Rd., Chiswick, London W4 1SY Follow: @villa_di_geggiano_london Spend the Day at an English Vineyard If wine is your thing, there is plenty to choose from at the stunning Quob Park Estate ! Dogs are adored here. You will be greeted by resident dog Pogo and you can join your humans in the restaurant, on wine tasting workshops and tours of the vineyard. Even if you're not into wine, it's a beautiful setting for a lazy lunch. The vineyard and restaurant is open to all but we highly recommend becoming a member so you get access to member-only discounts and invites to special events. Where: Titchfield Ln, Wickham, Fareham PO17 5PG Follow: @quobparkestate Get some Perfect Pooch Photos at Artful Dog Studio No doubt your phone is full of photos of your pooch (ours definitely is) but a studio portrait is something you can hang on your wall and a lifelong reminder of your most loyal companion. The Artful Dog Studio is located in the grounds of Waverley Abbey in leafy Surrey and after an hour of posing for one of their friendly photographers, you can take a scenic walk by the pond while your photos are prepared. You will then get to view all the photos and choose which ones you want to take home. It's a really fun way to spend a few hours with a countryside walk thrown in and some perfect photos to keep. Where: Waverley Farm, Waverley Lane, Farnham GU9 8EP Follow: @theartfuldogstudio Admire the river with a Thames Path Walk The Thames has always played a major part in London's rich history and offers us a great way to see some of the city's main landmarks. You can walk for miles on either bank of the river and there are plenty of places to stop off for refreshments along the way including our favourites Peggy Jean Green in Richmond , The Ram in Kingston , Emilia's Crafted Pasta in St.Katherine's Dock and Brewdog Tower Hill . If you get tired pooches can travel for free on the river by Uber Boat or over it on the Emirates Cable Car Say Aloha from Hawaii (without the 20 hour flight) The Pacific island of Hawaii is too far away for our little legs to travel so thank dog for El Ta'koy which is just a short commute to Covent Garden. The restaurant is situated in the basement of 3 Henrietta Street, a townhouse in Covent Garden which shares the space with 3 other restaurants and also has a covered space by the Market Building opposite. Four legged foodies are welcome inside and out but you will need to bring your own water and treats as this one is more of a treat for your humans. Two legged foodies will be transported to the land of rainbows with dishes inspired by Hawaiian street food such as Tuna Poke, Shrimp Lumpia and Seabass Ceviche. All accompanied by cocktails from the Tiki Bar. Where: 3 Henrietta St, London WC2E 8LU Follow: @el_takoy_london We hope you have some happy adventures this Summer. Don't forget to tag us in your photos @the4leggedfoodies for a share!
