  • Believe in Richmond

Dog friendly Richmond. This leafy borough in South West London loves dogs as much as they love Ted Lasso! South West London is famously very dog friendly and Richmond Upon Thames is at the very heart of that part of London. As the name suggests, it benefits from being on the Thames which offers some great riverside walks and stunning views. It is also home to some great places for you to dine with your pooch. The riverside locale not only provides scenic strolls but also opens up opportunities for dog walkers to turn their love for dogs into a fulfilling profession. Let's start right on the river (literally) with the stunning Peggy Jean Green . Aboard this fabulously instagrammable converted longboat you can enjoy an Aussie inspired brunch, lunch or dinner while dogs get beds, special homemade biscuits and doggie Lamingtons. Where: Peggy Jean Green The Boat, Bridge Boat House, Riverside, Richmond TW9 1TH @daisygreencollection One place our noses always take us to is Gaucho , whose Richmond restaurant is dog friendly all day, every day. After getting your fill of delicious steak, the terrace there is the perfect spot for watching the sun set over the Thames with glass of red in your hand! Where: Gaucho The Towpath, Riverside, Richmond TW10 6UJ @gauchogroup If you're looking for a great boozer by the river, then look no further than The White Cross which has held its position by the Thames since 1780. The pub is large inside and on multiple levels, it had a fabulous terrace overlooking the river which has some cover. There are treats for pooches on the bar and water is provided. The human food is a step above pub grub, especially the seafood which was so exceptional we thought we were by the sea not the Thames! Where: The White Cross, Riverside House, Water Ln, Richmond TW9 1NR @thewhitecrosspub A ball's throw from Richmond Green you will find another great Young's pub, The Old Ship. The pub has a bar area and small rear garden on the ground floor then upstairs there is a restaurant and event space. The menu is full of great pub classics with some seasonal additions and pooches receive a warm welcome with treats on the bar for us. Where: The Old Ship, 3 King St, Richmond TW9 1ND @oldshiprichmond Our favourite dog friendly bakery Ole & Steen can be found in Richmond too. Their cinnamon social is a must try for everyone and they love to feature their four legged visitors on their Instagram feed so make sure you're ready to pose! Where: Ole & Steen, 59 George St, London TW9 1HE @oleandsteenuk After a run on the green, head down past the Richmond Theatre towards Kew and you will discover The Shaftesbury . The pub has had a recent refurb and is plenty spacious inside with a small but adequate garden at the rear. Pooches will discover their own doggy corner with bowls and treats. Where: The Shaftesbury, 121-123 Kew Rd, Richmond TW9 2PN @shaftesbury.pub When you've finished exploring the river and the green, head up the hill and stop off at The Marlborough . From the front the pub looks small but, as all small dogs will tell you, looks can be deceiving. Once inside, the pub opens up into a large space and at the rear is a huge garden. Humans can expect food that is typical to most Young's pubs and doggies have their own self-service station for water and treats. Where: The Marlborough, 46 Friars Stile Rd, Richmond TW10 6NQ @marlboroughrichmond If you fancy exploring Richmond park then you will find The Lass O' Richmond Hill (affectionately known by locals as the Lass) a few yards from Richmond Gate. This is another pub that appears unassuming from the front but is bigger than it looks and has a lovely terrace at the back. The Lass also has a rare London pub feature - a car park!! Where: The Lass, Surrey, 8 Queen's Rd, Richmond TW10 6JJ @lassorichmondhill It always gives us great joy when we discover a hidden gem and The Mitre is one of those. This back street boozer between Richmond and Sheen has a cosy welcome for everyone and is just what most people are looking for in a local pub. Resident cocker spaniel Rudi is always there to greet everyone with a wagging tail and the menu named in his honour offers the humans authentic stone baked pizza to rival any you will have in Naples! Where: The Mitre, 20 St Mary's Grove, Richmond TW9 1UY @themitretw9 If you need to stock up on any supplies while you're in Kingston, pop into StarBarks. This super dog friendly cafe, shop and groomers is situated between Kingston and Richmond so perfect if you are visiting either and it's a short walk from Richmond Park. The shop is well stocked with everything for pooches and the cafe does great coffee and snacks for humans. Dogs get spoilt with pupcakes, pup cups, ice cream and oodles of treats. StarBarks 432 Richmond Road KT2 5PU It's worth exploring the town itself, if you are there on a Saturday stop off at the Duck Pond Market to see some lovely little businesses selling their wares. Richmond has lots of interesting little alleyways, which are worth exploring. Most of these lead onto Richmond Green which is a great place for a picnic or to just sit and relax for a while.

  • Gouqi London

Dog friendly Chinese fine dining in London If you want to experience Chinese cuisine at its very finest, then Gouqi is the place for you and your furry friend can come too! The restaurant in London's Trafalgar Square is extremely stylish as is the food but no style over substance here. Every dish tastes as good as it looks. The menu takes you on a culinary journey through China as the dishes are created using techniques and ingredients from across the country. We chose two of the 3 course set menus as we wanted to try as much as possible - even some things we had never had before such as Claypot rice. We highly recommend the BBQ lunch menu where you get 3 kinds of barbecue roast all of which you can watch the chefs carving in the restaurant. You might have to save a bit for your dog as simply smelling it would be torture! With full bellies, we sat back and relaxed with Jasmine tea. 25-34 Cockspur St, London, SW1Y 5BN DOG FRIENDLY LONDON DOG FRIENDLY TRAFALGAR SQUARE DOG FRIENDLY COVENT GARDEN DOG FRIENDLY ASIAN RESTAURANT DOG FRIENDLY CHINESE RESTAURANT

  • Paw Prints & Co

Handcrafted accessories for dogs and their humans https://www.instagram.com/benny__beaglier/ I first started seeing PawPrints and Co popping up on Instagram as I was expanding my Benny wardrobe and by that I mean my wardrobe with all things Benny on them! I am well and truly in my dog mum era and it just so happens that it's also my height of fashion era too! I mean, who wouldn't want their adorable dog's face on every item of clothing they own?  Charlotte had so many great designs on her website. The minute I saw the Autumn designs, I was hooked. I knew I had to get the coffee shop and pumpkin design for cosy Autumn evenings and then I had to get a T -shirt for summer, then obviously Christmas designs came in so that was a must! You can see that it was a slippery slope but one that I was very much gliding down with a giant 'wheeee!!!!'  The Valentine's range is currently out and it's also adorable. The bold pink design I have, I am obsessed with.  https://www.instagram.com/benny__beaglier/ If you're feeling extra creative, Charlotte can make any design that you come up with. I recently got one (pictured on a jade green jumper) and it is literally my favourite thing in the world. It's everything me and Benny love on a soft, cosy jumper.  https://www.instagram.com/benny__beaglier/ BUT, PawPrints and Co aren't just for us humans... obviously, Charlotte has a range of harnesses, collars and leads, as well as a multitude of tag designs that are beautiful. In addition to lots of other products to help make being a dog parent that much more stylish and practical.  We were super excited to be seasonal reps last year but have since stayed on. It's a wonderful community to be a part of and I highly recommend you give the website a visit today.  https://www.instagram.com/benny__beaglier/ Use code BENNY10 to save!

  • Pawfect Manners

A guide to dining out with your dog Dog ownership in the UK is still increasing with some areas now reporting more households having dogs than children! As a result, we will discover more and more places becoming dog friendly. London which still leads the way for dog friendly destinations but but we are noticing more areas of the UK are catching up and cashing in on this lucrative sector. We want this upward trend of dog friendliness to continue but it only takes a few badly behaved dogs to make a place change its policy and it only takes a few bad experiences to put your dog off ever wanting to dine out again. This is not an exhaustive guide but gives you some key areas to focus on when taking your dog to restaurants and pubs. If you get these things right, you and your dog will enjoy many years of dining out together. Yappy Hour not Happy Hour Before you decide to take your dog out to dine or drink with you, do your research about the place if you don't already know it. A Saturday night in a busy pub is probably not the best environment for a dog! Dogs do not enjoy loud music and lots of noisy people. If your dog isn't great with children then Sunday lunch is another time to avoid. These busier times are also when your pooch is more likely to get stepped on and trust me a stomped on tail is not easily forgotten! Ask the place when their quieter times are or read our reviews as this is one of the things we look out for. It is also worth mentioning when you book that you will be bringing a dog (or 2)! But first....Walkies! We can't think of a better way to end a walk than with a visit to one of our favourite pubs. Not only does it give us humans a chance to work up a good hunger but it also means your pooch has got rid of some of their energy and is more likely to settle down while you enjoy your meal. The younger or more energetic your pooch is, the more important it is to tire them out a little before introducing them to more stimulus. It's quite difficult to enjoy your meal when your pup is trying to play with every dog who passes by - and can be quite annoying for other diners too. At the very least, you should make sure your pooch has done all their toilet business before you go in a dog friendly place as pooping where people are eating is understandably frowned upon! You're Gonna Need a Bigger Bag! When taking your dog out for dinner you can leave that clutch bag behind, you're more likely to need a rucksack, especially of you have more than 1 dog. Some essentials you should take with you are; poo bags, water, a bowl or bottle to drink it from and treats. You may also want to take a toy for distraction (but maybe not a noisy one) and a blanket to sit on as some pub floors can be hard and uncomfortable. A blanket is essential if you want your dog to sit on any seats with you. The staff have enough to do without having to clean dog hair from their velvet banquette! If the weather is bad, please also take a towel to wipe those muddy paws before you go inside a nice dog friendly place. When it comes to treats, ensure they are high value like Brian Recommends or longer lasting chews for dogs who get bored easily. Try to avoid being out during your dog's usual mealtime as this can only add to their impatience or make them more likely to beg for what you're having! Is this Seat Taken? Once inside the pub or restaurant find the best place for pooch to sit where he causes the least inconvenience and is most protected from being stepped on, tripped over or have things spilled on him. If you want your dog to sit on the furniture, please check that the staff are ok with that first and use a blanket or your own coat to protect the seat. Most places will want your dog to be on a lead and secured so they are not found wandering around or making their way to the kitchen. Get your dog settled and use your distraction toys or treats as mentioned earlier before you turn your attention to the matter of dining as you may need to leave early if it's just not working for your pup. If you are meeting friends, try not to get too excited when they arrive as your dog will inevitably want to join in. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, be vigilant for any about to pass your table and have a distraction ready. Same goes for toddlers running past or pushchairs, anything that could spark a reaction from your dog and make him or the subject of the reaction uncomfortable. It's hard to comprehend I know, but some people don't like dogs and are even scared of them so just be mindful of that. Make sure your dog has access to water throughout your stay and be ready to take them out for a toilet break if you are there for more than a couple of hours or if they shows signs of needing to go at any point. It can be easy to forget and not realise the time when you are out having fun with friends and alcohol is involved! When you are leaving, and arriving for that matter, you will be walking close to other diners, so keep your dog on a tight lead so they don't bother any other settled dogs or jump up to try and steal food from a table. Have Fun! It seems a lot to think about but after a while this will all be second nature when taking your pooch out with you and you will be able to relax and enjoy dining out together. A trip to the pub is a social event for you and your dog, giving them mental stimulation and socialisation skills. As long as you follow the basic guidance, and NEVER put your dog in a stressful situation, you and your pooch will have many fun times together for years to come. • Dog Friendly Stratford upon Avon

Bards, Boats and Big Wheels with The Four Legged Foodies spending 24 hours in Stratford upon Avon We are cultured pooches so when the humans suggested a visit to the home of Shakespeare, we donned our ruffs and picked up our quills so we could tell you all about the great dog friendly places we found in Stratford upon Avon. The Arden Hotel We started off by checking into our hotel The Arden , where we were greeted by super friendly staff who showed us around the hotel and then to our room.   The Arden Hotel The room had everything we needed including a bed each, a toy each and some treats to share (only if Nacho behaves). There was also a mini fridge for us to keep our Different Dog food in. The humans were starving so lucky then that The Arden is centrally located and we only had a short walk to Yorks Cafe. Yorks Cafe The cafe is small inside so we recommend our bigger friends sit at one of the outside tables which are covered by an awning. The staff here love dogs and the manager showed us a photo of his new puppy. Yorks cafe has a great brunch style menu all day and dozens of tempting cakes. Once the humans had filled their bellies, we headed down to the river to explore. The riverside Stratford upon Avon You can walk on the riverside in both directions from the town centre and there is also a cute foot ferry to take you over to other side if your little legs can’t make it to the next bridge. The Big Wheel On the riverside we spotted The Big Wheel and thought it would be a great way to see the town from above. The view from The Big Wheel Once we persuaded male human (he’s afraid of heights) we hopped on for our 10 minute ride and enjoyed the views! Male human mostly looked at the floor. *The Big Wheel costs £8 per adult and £1 per dog. Small/medium dogs only and on leads at all times. Gardens at Arden Hotel Back on terra firma, we walked along the river back to the hotel so the humans could have a cheeky cocktail before dinner. Dogs are welcome everywhere in The Arden including the No.44 Brasserie. They will normally try and put doggies on the tables nearest the door. In finer weather there is also a lovely outdoor terrace you can dine on and pretty gardens to explore. No.44 Brasserie at Arden Hotel The human food is excellent in the No.44 Brasserie. Ours went for their favourite thing of sharing a few small plates and every morsel was devoured in a flash! And they have the nerve to tell us off for eating too quickly. Breakfast at Arden Hotel Breakfast the following morning is also served in the restaurant with a choice of continental and hot dishes. We got our obligatory sausage and an added extra of black pudding which we walked off back down to the river, passing through a great market which is there every Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, on our way to Avon Boating. Avon Boating Avon Boating have a few options for those who want to explore the river and dogs are welcome on all except the canoes. Avon Boating We went for a self-drive electric boat and enjoyed a peaceful cruise down the river for 30 minutes. We even got to see some adorable baby geeses! Prices and times depend on which boat you hire. Visit their website for more details. Frozzy's The sun came out whilst we were boating so afterwards we picked up a Frozzy’s from Hoorays Gelato and sat by the river to enjoy it. After a wander through town to see some old cobbled streets and pose with Will, we headed back to the hotel. It had been a few hours since breakfast by then so obviously the humans were starving again. Afternoon Tea at Arden Hotel The Arden serve a fabulous afternoon tea in the restaurant every afternoon (except Mondays) from 1pm to 3pm. The tea has a delicious selection of finger sarnies, scones and perfectly created little cakes all for £30 each. Now we just need to persuade them to offer a doggie version from our friends at Talula Eats. Sniff & Bark We highly recommend a visit to Stratford upon Avon for all our four legged friends as there is so much to sniff and bark about and so many dog friendly places to try. More dog friendly Stratford upon Avon: Cafes Coffee #1 No 37 Cafe Bensons Box Brownie Coffee Boston Tea Party Bardia's Plantarium Restaurants The Encore The Vintner Prospero Lounge Lambs No. 4 Riverside Red Hot Mamma The Opposition Cobb's Bistro Pierre Pubs The Cox's Yard The One Elm The Rose & Crown Dirty Duck The Bull Pen & Parchment Accommodation Swan's Nest Hotel The Fuzzy Duck Ettingham Park Hotel Hotel Du Vin The Stratford Park
