  • Exploring Dog Friendly Mayfair

You may be forgiven for thinking that the most expensive square on Monopoly is too posh to be dog friendly, but you would be very much mistaken! It may be home to some of the country's top restaurants and most exclusive shops but we dogs are very welcome at some of the fanciest of places. After all, some dogs are posher than most humans!! We explored some of the best dog friendly restaurants Mayfair had to offer. Smith & Whistle A stylish bar within the Park Lane Sheraton hotel. We dogs have our own cocktail menu and sometimes they have dog burgers on the menu. Read Archie's full review here... The Grazing Goat This is a cool pub that is part of the Cubitt House group. It is tucked away on a quiet street off Oxford Street and welcomes small, well-behaved dogs inside. They also have some tables outside. Our friends Kobe and Truffle are regular visitors and they tell us the humans really enjoy the food there. Read their full review here... North Audley Cantine A very pretty, Insta-worthy restaurant in the heart of Mayfair. We doggies are welcome everywhere inside but the outdoor tables are a great spot for watching the comings and goings of the locals. One of the best weekend brunch spots in London. Read Archie's full review here... Sketch Even the best London restaurants welcome dogs and the 2 Michelin starred Sketch is one of them. Unfortunately we are not allowed in the main restaurant but we are welcome in the downstairs parlour where you can still get great food and afternoon tea. Water is served in your very own Michelin starred dog bowl! Read Archie's review here... Mercato Mayfair If, like us, you are already a fan of Mercato Metropolitano, then you will know what to expect of their Mayfair venue. Indulge in a variety of cuisines from the poshest of 'food courts' all under the roof of the stunning St.Mark's Church. The food traders are spread over 2 floors and there is also a small roof terrace if you prefer to dine al fresco. Read Archie's review here... Find more dog friendly places like these on our app.

  • 6 places to enjoy National Burger Day

August 27th is one of our favourite days of the year as it's National Burger Day. The dish we inherited from our friends across the pond has come a long way since the days of Wimpy! Now you can get anything in a bun from kobe beef to beetroot and even without the bun for those on a no carb diet. As long as it's patty shaped, it's a burger! Some places will even create a special burger just for us doggies! Here are 6 dog friendly places to celebrate National Burger Day with your pooch! Smith & Whistle, Mayfair This swanky cocktail bar within the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel is so dog friendly that puppers even have their own menu of pooch friendly cocktails. We celebrated National Burger Day with them last year when they served up a special chicken burger for Archie! They also serve up a pretty mean burger for the humans complete with gruyere cheese and beer soaked onions. There is an extensive choice of beers and cocktails to wash it down with. The staff are super friendly and positively encourage lots of doggie pics being taken in the bar. Read Archie's review here... The Woolpack, Bermondsey This is a Young's pub on the very dog friendly Bermondsey Street. We love the relaxed vibe in this pub and look forward to going back in better weather when we can enjoy their great garden. The pub is split over 2 levels and dogs are allowed everywhere. The food is good old pub grub and the humans can get beef or veggie burgers, served with delicious triple cooked chips. As with all Young's pubs there is a good selection of beers and other drinks. Read Archie's review here... Gaucho, Hampstead and Richmond Gaucho is always a firm favourite for meat lovers, which, less face it, includes most pooches! Hampstead holds regular Doggie Sundays and Richmond is equally welcoming to pooches at all times. As you would expect from a restaurant that prides itself on its beef, the burgers are fabulous and the chips are to die for. We asked for a little burger for Archie and they were happy to oblige. Good news - Gaucho are extending the Eat Out to Help Out Discount through September. Read Archie's review here... The Albert, Kingston This is our local Young's pub and we have sampled most things on their menu over the years but one we return to time and again is their buttermilk chicken burger. As with all Young's pubs, we doggies are always very welcome. The Albert is a large pub with space at the front and an enclosed garden at the rear. There is a small restaurant area where we dogs don't go but the rest is ours to explore. They even have a dog bar area where we can help ourselves to water and treats. Read Archie's review here... Cambridge Street Kitchen, Pimlico This restaurant is within the Artist Residence hotel in Pimlico and is a lovely space filled with colourful art and neon lights. We doggies are very welcome everywhere, including the hotel. The humans can get breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner here and they do beef, chicken and veggie burgers. The hotel and restaurant reopens on September 9th and they are taking bookings now. Read Archie's review here... Richard 1st, Greenwich Another Young's pub, this one is right next to Greenwich Park so perfect after a walk with our friend Betsy. The pub is a decent size with a few tables out front and a large enclosed garden at the rear. The burger was a big hit with the humans but Betsy was more interested in the chips (she's a bit unusual)! As you can see, we doggies are made very welcome at the Richard 1st. The staff made sure we had plenty of water and were happy to have us sit on the furniture. Read Archie's review here... You will find more great dog friendly places like these on our app.

  • 3 Dog Friendly Surrey Villages

If sitting by a duck pond and watching a cricket match on the green sounds idyllic to you, then there aren't many places that can beat a village in Surrey. I explored 3 quintessentially English villages which are not just great for making your Instagram feed look pretty but are also very dog friendly. Shere The beautiful village of Shere attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to the movies The Holiday and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, both of which were partly filmed here. The current absence of visiting tourists mean it's a bit quieter and easier to get a table at the cafes and pubs. The road running through the village can be very busy with cars and bikes and the pavements are narrow or non-existent so we pooches need to take extra care. Be sure to visit the beautiful church but don't waste any time trying to find the cottage from The Holiday because it was a fake one built just for the film! A must for all pooches is a visit to The Dabbling Duck. This village cafe, right next to the duck pond, serves breakfast and lunch every day. We sat in their spacious courtyard and the humans tucked into a full English - of course I tested the sausages and give them the paws up! They also have a sister restaurant, The Plucky Pheasant, on the outskirts of the village. The village is also home to two pubs, The William Bray and The White Horse which are both dog friendly. Cranleigh Our next stop was the village of Cranleigh, larger than Shere and with more shops but still very pretty and dog friendly. The department store Mann's welcomes us pooches and the concept store One Forty is well worth browsing. The road adjacent to the High Street is currently closed to traffic so the cafes have extra outside tables. When it comes to feeding the humans, Cranleigh has a plethora of cafes, many of which are dog friendly, including the Cromwell Coffee House. If you prefer a pub then The Richard Onslow is very spacious with a lovely rear garden and we dogs can even stay the night in one of their rooms if you want to stay a little longer (or the humans have too much wine to drive home). A definite must for the humans is Moooh! Ice Cream which is just off the High Street. Chiddingfold The tiny village of Chiddingfold has only 2 pubs and a handful of shops but it's the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Take a picnic and sit on the green, relax by the lily pond (blog main image) or watch a match on the nearby cricket pitch. If picnics aren't really your thing then head to one of the villages pubs, both of which are dog friendly. The Crown on the green is very popular. We had lunch at The Swan Inn which is quite large and has a rear garden with plenty of shade/cover. The humans described the food as decent pub grub and I made friends with the little girl on the next table who kept dropping bits of chicken for me! Those small humans have their uses sometimes! On this adventure Archie was kitted out in lead and collar by Overglam, bandana by Fred&Juno. His activity level was measured by PitPat - use code FOURLEGGEDFOODIES for £5 off your activity monitor. He was fuelled by Edgard & Cooper Busy Day Bar - use code FOURLEGGEDFOODIES for 20% off first order.

  • 6 Pub Gardens to enjoy this summer.

As lockdown in London gradually eases we are starting to think about which pubs we can't wait to get back to and it's a very long list I can tell you! Our pubs are looking very different from when we last saw them and it may not be so easy to get a table plus your humans may still be a bit nervous of getting too close to other humans. If you prefer to remain outdoors this summer but still want to enjoy a great dog friendly pub, then you're in luck because many of London's pubs have fabulous gardens. Here's 6 pubs with outdoor spaces chosen by me and my pals. Richard 1st - Greenwich Enjoy a lovely walk in Greenwich Park and then pop over the road to the Richard 1st pub. The garden at the rear is large and enclosed - perfect for enjoying your after walk refreshments. All Young's pubs are re-opening on 20th July. Read Archie's full review here... Woolpack, Bermondsey Another Young's pub this time in the very dog friendly area of Bermondsey. When we visited in early March they were refurbishing the garden area so it should be even better when they re-open on 20th July. Kings Arms, Wandsworth The last of our Young's pubs in this blog is The King's Arms which is on a very busy junction in Wandsworth but the garden at the rear is an absolute oasis of calm. As you can see there is plenty of space for more than one dog. Red Lion, Barnes This Fullers pub in beautiful Barnes not only has a fantastic garden with loads of space but it is also home to The Great British Sausage Roll Off every February. They often have BBQ's in the garden and the food is always good. They are open and waiting for you! Read Archie's review here... The Garden Shed, Wimbledon This Kiwi pub in Wimbledon has a really pretty rear garden with plenty of space and comfortable seating - tried and tested by Archie! Read his full review here... The Cuckfield, Wanstead This East London pub has the biggest garden in Wanstead and as you can see it is definitely big enough to accommodate our friend Hercules. It's a great place to refresh and refuel after a walk in Wanstead Park. They are currently open for bookings. Follow them @thecuckfielde11 for updates. • How to get to Crufts - even if you're not a show dog!

Crufts is the biggest event in the UK dog community and is held every year at the NEC in Birmingham. The show attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors over 4 days every March and is broadcast on TV all over the world. This year, Archie went to along with his friend Betsy to see what all the fuss is about! Getting there The NEC is around a 3 hour drive from London or you can take a train from London Euston to Birmingham International in just over an hour. Dogs travel for free on all UK train networks. Birmingham International station is connected to the NEC so you can enter mostly under cover. If you are driving, we also recommend you park at the station car park. It has plenty of spaces and is actually closer to the NEC building than their own car park. Parking costs £12 for all day and can be pre-booked. When you arrive, you will be directed by staff to the "dog" entrance. This year it was at Hall 3 (not sure if this changes each year) and you can come and go through that exit all day for toilet breaks. Staying in Birmingham If you want to experience the whole 4 days, you may want to stay overnight nearby. We stayed at The Hallmark in Birmingham courtesy of Pets Pyjamas. We wouldn't particularly recommend this hotel as they don't allow dogs in the restaurant or bar but it was all that was available last minute so we would advise you plan ahead as any pet friendly hotels in the area get booked up quickly. Taking your dog There are a few ways you can take your dog to Crufts. Galen Myotherapy is a branch of canine massage therapy and each year they look for dogs to treat at the show. You can register via their website or Facebook page and you and your dog will get free access to the show plus a free treatment. You will need consent from your vet beforehand. Archie has regular myotherapy sessions at home so do ask us if you have any questions or visit their website. Every exhibitor at the show is allocated a number of free tickets and dog passes so if you know anyone who is exhibiting or if you a really good customer of theirs, just ask them if they have any going spare. In return you can give them a shout out on social media. You may be invited to go along with your dog as a pet influencer or brand representative. Archie works with Edgard & Cooper so was invited to go along to help spread the word about their fantastic range of food. Use code "FOURLEGGEDFOODIES" to get 20% off your first order. Getting around the show Obviously there are a lot of dogs and a lot of people at the show so we wouldn't recommend you take your dog if they are nervous in crowded, noisy places or if they are not great around other dogs. All visiting dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and be discouraged from making any mess. There are exercise areas inside each hall which are fenced in sandy areas - you still need to pick up the poop in these areas. Crufts is huge! There are 5 halls of show rings and hundreds of exhibitors selling everything you could possibly want for your pooch. So obviously your dog needs to be fit and healthy as they will be walking around with you all day. Some of our smaller friends travelled around in a pet carrier or stroller - both of which can be purchased at the show. We went on the opening day which is usually quieter as it's a Thursday but you may want to time your visit to see a particular show group competing so check the schedule well in advance as this changes every year. Enjoy the show Visiting dogs aren't allowed in the main show rings where agility and show finals take place and they are not allowed in the human toilets or restaurants but they are allowed everywhere else. There are plenty of places to get sandwiches etc where the dog is allowed and tables and chairs for that well earned rest. You can watch the breed shows in the smaller show rings. If you plan well, you can enjoy a great visit to Crufts with your dog and get to see hundreds of dog products (most have show discounts) your dog can sample some new treats and you can even pop by and see your favourite charity. Our friend Hattie, who has been to Crufts for the last 3 years, recommended we visit the Jeep stand. They take a quick snap of your dog and then print the photo onto a black canvas bag, which came in handy for all that shopping! This is completely free and if you get there before the queues it only takes 5 minutes. Betsy was our 'Best In Show' but being SO fabulous is hard work!!

  • 5 Places to refuel after a walk in Battersea Park

Battersea Park is one of my favourite places in London to walk because it has something for everyone. There is plenty of water for swimming, big open spaces as well as ornamental gardens and some lovely picnic spots. It has it's own dog friendly cafe and also leads directly onto the Power Station development which is packed with fabulous dog friendly restaurants. Here are 5 of my favourite places to visit before or after your walk. London House Apparently Gordon Ramsay is a chef who is on TV a lot and likes to swear! Well I don't know about that but I do know he has some great pubs and restaurants in London where we doggies are welcome. Visit London House after a walk in the park or just get your driver to take you. Read Archie's full review here... Pear Tree Cafe If you're in the park then you just have to go to the Pear Tree Cafe. If the humans take too long to drink their coffee, you can entertain yourself by watching the ducks on the nearby pond. Read Archie's full review here... Mother Who doesn't love pizza? Well if you don't then don't worry you can also get pasta at this Italian restaurant on the Power Station development. Try their weekend soul brunch. Read Archie's full review here... Le Pot Lyonnais If you can't function until you've had your first cup of coffee then this French bistro and bar is a great place to get coffee and croissants before your walk or a delicious lunch afterwards. Read Archie's full review here... Vagabond Wines If your humans are like mine then this stuff makes them very happy. Stroll through the park to the Power Station development and see them smile when you show them this bar, restaurant and urban winery. Read Archie's full review here...

  • The Rookery Clapham

I don’t know about you my four legged friends but at weekends I like to take the humans for a walk somewhere different and of course that has to be followed by a visit to a nearby dog friendly pub. So last weekend we decided to explore Clapham Common with my friends Tika and Saffy. The park is a large triangular shape with plenty of paved paths so the humans can keep their feet dry, seems like those things they wear on their feet isn’t enough! But there is lots of grass for us pooches and three lakes for those who like to swim. There is also a Victorian bandstand for some great photo opportunities. There is plenty of free parking in the area at weekends or you can get the tube to Clapham Common or Clapham South - both are very close to the Common. At the south side of the Common you will find The Rookery, which we decided to try for lunch. The pub is tucked in between a row of shops on the main road (A24) opposite the Common but it is set back from the road and has a covered outside area at the front. Inside is small but there aren’t too many tables so there is room for us pooches to sit, even my larger friends. I particularly liked the staff as they greeted me first and made sure I had water before seeing to the humans. They even offered me a treat from the jar on the bar - well obviously I said yes. It would have been rude not to! Tika, Saffy and I entertained the other the customers by just being our usual cute selves while our humans enjoyed their food. The menu has a selection of small plates which the humans enjoyed along with a big portion of chips! There are also classics such as burgers (2 for 1 on Tuesdays), lasagne and fish and chips on the menu. The humans were pleased to see a decent selection of vegetarian options. If you're in a party mood, then the bar offers a selection of cocktails. Fancy dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine on us? Visit our Instagram page for details of how to win.
