  • Leven Hotel - Dog Friendly Hotel Manchester

Dog friendly hotel Manchester - review by Nacho of The Four Legged Foodies I love to explore UK cities so I asked the old woman to take me to Manchester to experience a bit of Northern charm! We enjoyed a fabulous stay at Leven which is a fabulous dog friendly hotel in Manchester city centre. It's always a good start to any visit when I see that the hotel has its priorities right when it comes to who is the most important guest. Not only were the staff super welcoming but I had a special treat waiting for me in the room. My welcome pack included lots of tasty treats, including a pupcake and also a ball to keep me entertained. Notice how small her name is below mine? There was also a comfy bed for me and a bowl to enjoy my dinner in. The sign was her idea of joke - I had actually had a bath specially for the trip!! The human got her own treat of a special pair of socks to keep her feet warm. You can tell by my face that she did not have a bath specially for the trip! Our room was spacious with lots of windows so I could look out and watch the dogs of Manchester passing by. There was a huge bed for the human and a little kitchen area which was perfect for her to prepare my meals. The reception are is very stylish and welcoming in design and there is a small room where a buffet breakfast is served. Guests at Leven can get dinner and cocktails at Maya which is next to the hotel. Dogs are welcome in the lower ground area of the restaurant where they serve delicious food - it was Sunday so they had a roast dinner. They ate every morsel so I assume it was good. They are still talking about how amazing the cocktails were. Gay Village Manchester Leven is in the heart of Manchester's gay village which is very colourful and way too cool for my oldies! (That's only my opinion - they loved it). The area is very busy at weekends and can get lively but we heard nothing from our hotel room and all slept soundly. The old woman used the excuse of wanting to show the beautiful exterior of the hotel as a way of infiltrating my blog - please feel free to look past her. • Dog Friendly Vegan London

9 dog friendly vegan restaurants in London Here are some great dog friendly places where you can get your plant fix this Veganuary and beyond. Amrutha Earsfield This small but mighty vegan restaurant in Earlsfield offers Asian tapas style dining where all you have to choose is whether to have 8 dishes or 12. Every dish is pure heaven on a plate and dogs get their very own dish of veggies. The restaurant has a "pay what you want" policy and you can re-order as many dishes as you like. Amrutha 326 Garratt Ln, London SW18 4EJ Tofu Vegan Golders Green The humans are always looking for restaurants that push the boundaries with vegan food and Tofu Vegan is just one of those places and they also love dogs! Win, win! Their 3 locations serve up delicious Chinese food from a 100% plant-based menu. Now our human has never been a fan of tofu but this place changed her mind forever. (Don't worry if you're not a fan, there are many dishes without tofu). The NOT fish burger is a must try for everyone (even we couldn’t tell it wasn’t real fish) and the dim sum are little parcels of scrumptiousness. Weekend lunchtimes are super busy so maybe try quieter times with your dog. We visited Golders Green but all 3 locations welcome dogs. Tofu Vegan Golders Green , Spitalfields and Islington Follow: @tofuveganlondon Vegan Planet Camden If you lived on planet vegan would you worship seitan? Luckily we didn't need a spaceship, just had to get the tube to Camden to enjoy this amazing Chinese vegan restaurant. The restaurant is right by Camden station or a short walk from Regent's Park. Which is a good option as you will need to work up an appetite to get through their extensive menu. All well-behaved doggies are welcome in the spacious restaurant and will get water and treats from the staff. The restaurant is 100% vegan and our humans recommend the dim sum platter, wontons in spicy sauce and salt and pepper oyster mushrooms. Vegan Planet 11 Parkway, London NW1 7PG Follow: @veganplanetcamden Yeotown Fancy some California Dreaming on a Winter's day? January in London can be bleak but once you're inside this restaurant your winter blues will disappear. Yeotown is a California inspired restaurant in the Inhabit Hotels Queens Gardens and Sussex Gardens, Bayswater. The mood is chill and the food is a work of art. The restaurant isn't 100% vegan but has a great selection of small plates that are. Our humans recommend the rice paper wraps which are filled with fruit but it works and the beautiful potato pave with edible nasturtium. And if the weather isn't too bad it's just a short hop over the road to Hyde Park for walkies. Yeotown 78 Sussex Gardens, Tyburnia, London W2 1UH Follow: @yeotownlondon Shake Shack Victoria Our friends at Shake Shack never let us down with quality food and a warm welcome for pooches. In January they have a limited edition Crispy Shallot burger to celebrate Veganuary with crispy shallot fries too! All Shake Shack locations in London are dog friendly and they have red velvet bone biscuits and poochini permanently on the menu. Shake Shack - various locations Follow: @shakeshackuk Floozie Covent Garden If you have a sweet tooth Veganuary can be difficult as most baked goods have butter or milk but we have some great news for cookie monsters...Floozie cookies are 100% vegan. Their cookies are stuffed with such deliciousness as peanut butter and jelly and pecan pie. They also have a selection of vegan drinks and ice cream. The shop is downstairs at Covent Garden Market and has a few tables inside and out where pooches are welcome. We had our own vegan puppacino while the humans stuffed their faces. Floozie Building Lower Ground, 15 The Mkt, London WC2E 8RE Follow: @flooziecookies Mall Tavern Having a plant based diet does not mean you have to miss out on a Sunday Roast. which is lucky because a roast at the pub is one of our favourite ways to spend a Sunday. At the Mall Tavern in Notting Hill you can get this nut roast with all the trimmings and you won't even miss the beef! Our human is obsessed with gravy so she was worried about how it might taste but she said it was one of the tastiest ones she ever had (apart from grandpaw's). She did cheat a little though and had the Yorkshire Pudding which you have to leave out for a full vegan dish. That's because she is a Yorkshire Pudding herself! Mall Tavern 71 Palace Gardens Terrace, London W8 4DY Follow: @malltavern Purezza We do love pizza and when we heard Purezza offer a doggie pizza we decided to give the green stuff a try! The dog menu has 2 pizza flavours and also dog beer and wine. We prefer water but the pizza slices went down a treat. Our Two Legged Foodies are always looking for great vegan food to try so gorged down a couple pizzas. There are also vegan pasta dishes on the menu. Purezza 45-47 Parkway, London NW1 7PN Follow: @purezza Pastaio Pasta is a difficult one for vegans and our humans couldn't live without pasta! Pastaio have a great vegan menu which proves you don't need eggs and cheese to make a fabulous bowl of pasta. The menu also has anti pasta and desserts. • The Psalter - Dog Friendly Hotel Sheffield

Review of dog friendly hotel The Psalter in Sheffield The human is from Sheffield so sometimes we go to visit her family. Rather than imposing on their hospitality, this time we stayed at The Psalter Hotel which is in the Nether Edge district of Sheffield, approximately 2 miles from the city centre. The Psalter has a stylish cocktail bar and a lovely restaurant where pooches are welcome to join the humans and the staff are super friendly. We stayed in a King Suite which was super spacious and comfortable. I had a basket of goodies waiting for me, including treats, a bowl, towel and poo bags. The room also had great views of the city, with low window sills - perfect for nosy little terriers! Eating and drinking I do well - sharing not so much! The hotel has recently been taken over by one of our favourite chefs whose food we first experienced at Rafters Riverside back in 2023. Tom has brought the same high level of cuisine to Psalter so it's a perfect destination for all foodies. We stayed on a Sunday so were treated to Sunday Roast which was exceptional (I got to try the beef). The cauliflower roast for vegans is amazing! Breakfast is served in the lounge area and I was brought my very own sausage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Psalter and recommend to any of our doggie friends who are visiting Sheffield. Need to know: Max 2 dogs per room £25 additional room fee To explore Sheffield from the hotel you will need to drive or catch a bus. The hotel has a large car park. The Psalter 178-180 Psalter Lane, Sheffield, S11 8US A short drive from the hotel is Sheffield Botanical Gardens which is a great place to explore with your dog and meet up with some pals. Within the gardens, you will find Joni which is a wonderful cafe serving delicious brunches and lunches. DOG FRIENDLY SHEFFIELD DOG FRIENDLY SOUTH YORKSHIRE DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL

  • Icon - Dog Friendly Coffee and Brunch House Surbiton

Visit to this pretty dog friendly Cafe in Surbiton I consider myself a bit of an icon, so I was thrilled to discover this fabulous coffee and brunch house right on my doorstep in Surbiton. The humans had previously popped in for coffee and now it's their favourite local for a hot drink on the way to work. Now it was time to try out the food too.... ....and it didn't disappoint! The menu has a great selection of brunch and lunch dishes, they tried the hot honey and haloumi sandwich and avocado on toast with poached eggs. And it was all just as pretty as the surroundings and super tasty. I got a sausage brought to me by the lovely staff so I was well happy. Icon is a really inviting space with luxurious seating, quirky decor and lots of colour. It's one of those places where you will spot something different every time you go. There's always a lively buzz in the cafe but it can get very busy at weekends because there's nothing like it in the area. There are a few tables outside the front of the cafe which are covered by an awning. Icon CBH 12 Claremont Road KT6 4QU DOG FRIENDLY LONDON DOG FRIENDLY SURBITON DOG FRIENDLY SURREY

  • These Toys are Spetacular

Dur Dog Toys by Spetacular Made from recycled balloons these toys are not only tough but also environmentally friendly. You can feel smug in the knowledge that you are helping to reduce waste materials whilst your dog is having fun. We bought the Dur Ball from Spetacular and loved that it’s designed so you can poke treats in to make it more interesting.  Bertie doesn’t play fetch very well. He’ll run and retrieve a ball but sadly he didn’t get the memo about giving it back. He clings on to that bad boy as if his life depends on it! Once Bertie gets bored chasing a normal ball he will sit and destroy it. First meticulously peeling off the furry outer before ripping apart the bald rubber. It’s usually decimated within minutes. With the Dur Ball from Spetacular we could extend his play time by inserting a handful of Doggy Delights Treats from Caboodle. Bertie, like most Beagles is completely food motivated so this was the best thing that could happen for him.  He sat, impatiently waiting for me to load in the treats. Crying intermittently at the unfairness of me not just letting him devour said treats immediately. As soon as it was finished he snatched it away and set to work. I was super impressed with the design and the durability. The ball is a great size for a medium sized dog and Bertie was challenged and stimulated by having to work to get the treats. The treats are gripped in with soft spikes so they stay put and don’t just fall straight out as soon as the ball is rolled. Despite some pretty ferocious chewing to get to the treats, this toy still looks perfect. He hasn’t done any damage at all. Obviously he will now expect treats in it every time he sees this ball. So it’s pretty much redundant as a fetch toy. But it’s still a great toy that we will use often and I’m sure he will be excited about. Dur Toys are available in different colours and are scented with natural flavours like vanilla and blueberry, so you don’t have that unpleasant balloon smell. We are told that they are also safety tested and approved to European Toy Safety Standard EN71. They are non-toxic and anti-bacterial so you can rest assured that your dog can play safely. This toy was purchased by me from the Spetacular stall at the recent Woof About Market in Chiswick. Visit the website www.spetacular.co.uk to find out which events you can find them at next or buy online. For more fantastic independent pet companies why not visit the next Woof About Market.

  • Formby Beach Woods

Exploring Formby Beach Woods with Skye Together, myself and Skye like to explore and we recently got ourselves a National Trust Membership which has been so much fun!   @skyegsd23   On the first day of Spring, the weather was absolutely gorgeous, a scorching 18 degrees (ha!) so it was too nice of a day to stay in Manchester doing our usual walks. So we headed over to Formby which is around an hours drive for us. Now Formby is a National Trust beach, so members can scan their membership card for free parking, however non members can also go and pay to park which is £8.50 for the day.     Formby are currently doing some renovations to one of their car parks (Victoria Road car park) which is due to be completed next year, however you can still access everything at the Lifeboat Road car park. This is the one we use, there is access to the gorgeous sand dunes and the woods.     @skyegsd23 As the weather was so lovely, we headed towards the woods, this is a first time for me as I’ve always been one to go to the beach. It was like stepping into a magical wonderland, the trees were gorgeous, offered plenty of shade for Skye to run freely without overheating. We basically had the place to ourselves, perks of going during the week and I guess picking the woods rather than the beach!     Once you have finished your walk, there are toilets within the carpark and sometimes a coffee van, however on this day the coffee van wasn’t there so we can’t tell you how that was. Within the middle of the carpark there is also a big grassed picnic bench area, so don’t forget your picnic!     Location postcode - L37 2EB @skygsd23
